BELLINGHAM, Wash. - A Bellingham man, who is supporting Donald Trump, says people kept on stealing his Trump yard signs, almost as fast as he was putting them up.
Ray Gilbride tells our partner KIRO Radio that he has had a total of seven signs stolen.
This summer, Gilbride got fed up.
First he set up a security camera, but when he turned over footage of people taking the signs to police, he says they didn't follow up.
Gilbride then wired up a rig that electrified the signs.
Surveillance video showed people taking the signs and getting shocked.

Trespassing and theft are crimes. Protecting an asset is not a crime.
Either youve been living under a rock or came out of a time machine....

The law looks at protecting assets in a different way if protecting assets set up the perps to hurt.
This is a lawsuit walking and the perps will win.
I had a friend who avoided a $4 parking fee by driving around the lift gate. He was charged with “Theft.” Perhaps this guy can put a “for sale $100 each” sign on his Trump signs.
I would guess that it might be a problem in a city or burb where the homes are all close together and not all fenced-I live in a remote rural area and trespassing and/or theft on private property is taken very seriously here. Everyone has fenced property with locked gates across the driveway-and a lot of people have those gates and fences wired with non-lethal electric.
No judge or sheriff has any sympathy for someone who ignores a no trespassing sign on fence or gate and gets shocked-that is what they get for not respecting private property-they are lucky-getting arrested or shot would have been worse...
Rub the signs with Poison Ivy. Identify the culprits by their Calamine Lotion covered hands and arms!
He doesn’t need more electricity he needs stronger wire and a lttle more slack in it.
or a very tight telescoping clothesline that happens to be in it’s stowed position, about 6 inches above the ground.
Different rules in different states/places-trespassers and ladrones have been shot by property owners and the only charges filed were on the perp...
Slather the signs with the rankest, smelliest product available.....or rig it so a bucket of crap spills all over them when they try to take it.
In the 19th century they used to have “spring guns,” shotguns poised to maim or kill the thief. Poisoned darts dipped with curare or a slow acting frog poison might be another alternative.

Still a little more electricity like 15,000 volts from a continuous duty oil furnace igniter transformer might be helpful, but he would have to use better insulators. And there is the chance that he might get sued by someone’s family.
It loads a media player for me, but then it is blank.
Warning
Do not Touch Signs
Electrified
And a lightning bolt symbol
He’s covered.
I’ve posted this before. Get a product called “Rap-Last”. It is a horse product that keeps horses from chewing on stuff like their leg wraps. Any feed store or Tractor Supply will have it. Put it on the back edges of the sign. When they get it on their hands, they are screwed. If they touch their eyes, mouth or any delicate area the burning sensation is unbelievable. It won’t do any damage but they will want to die. Trust me, you only get it on you once.
Good! Then I hope they get zapped.
Smear the sign with a cream containing capsaicin. The thief will get an amusing surprise when he (or she) touches his (or her) privates.
Back in the late 70s-early 80s our neighborhood had a rash of bicycle thefts, including one from our own yard in broad daylight that my son had put down by the front porch less than 15 minutes earlier. I wanted to wire a bike, plug it in and wet the ground. Mrs. JimRed had to point out to me that bike stealing is not a capital offense. Oxalic acid (rust remover, naval jelly) on the handlebars instead.

OK, try this, put the sign on a mound, surround the sign with sharpened bamboo stakes, and apply shards of glass at the base. Form a perimeter with around it with razor wire and put a no trespassing sign in front of it.
