One night I could not sleep and went downstairs to make a drink. And there, in the kitchen, to my utter shock, I saw Nevil looking at me.

We had a cat that we see out of the corner of the eye every so often even though he has been gone for about 10 years now. He was extra special.

I’m still grieving over my girl; died last November. Wish I could see her again. So far, nothing.

My dogs all dreamed, a state of mind without body. Last dog was often fighting something that didn’t leave her tail wagging.

I’m afraid I’m too much of a rational thinker to think that seeing our dead pets is anything other than wishful thinking.

When our little cat Munchy died suddenly after a short illness, I saw her in every dark corner. It was only my mind trying to supply the missing object that I so desperately wanted to see. But she was gone. Eventually, I stopped seeing her everywhere.

The cats (bunnies, chickens, parakeets) who have gone before me are all waiting at the Rainbow Bridge. They are not here.

Every time a dear pet of mine was getting ready for the trip to the Rainbow Bridge, I’d see for a split second a departed pet who was best friends with the one ready to leave. That would scare me yet bring me comfort. Their friendship will continue for ever. :)

I water the flowers growing above my cat, Valentine’s, resting place every day. I see her waiting by the door every night, and sometimes sense she’s about to jump on me. I call it phantom cat syndrome.

I had the most wonderful dog that I rescued, half Corgi and half Shepherd. He loved me more than anything in this world and after having him almost 10 years, he died. I mourned him for 3 years and one night I cried myself to sleep, completely inconsolable. That night I dreamed about him. He came running up to me and we were in this meadow and ran and chased each other the entire dream. I was laughing and he kept running in front of me and looking at me over his shoulder with that big grin on his face, his tongue flapping in the wind. Finally I heard the birds chirping and I felt that morning was coming. I knelt down and hugged him and opened my eyes with a gasp. I could still feel where I had hugged him and I knew that he had come to me to let me know that he was okay.

Heard this story from an animal communicator: she was at a barn party and one of the party goers has a dog accompanying her. The woman with the dog told the communicator that they were in the process of moving to another house but her dog was acting oddly. The communicator asked the dog what was bothering her, and dog asked if the other dog was going with them. They did not own another dog. As it turned out, the other dog was a ghost dog.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

DO ALL DOGS REALLY GO TO HEAVEN?

CBN.com When we were at Love Inn (our ministry work in upstate New York) our dog was a Border Collie, Alfie. He was the best Christian in the place. He was hit by a car trying to cross highway Rt.13, and Nedra still cries about him. She was telling Alfie stories last week and cried.

Then subsequently we had Lady, (looked like Lassie) she was “dog napped.” Our next dog was Golda, a Golden Retriever. My youngest son Ryan used to sleep on her. She eventually died of old age. All of these dogs were loving, devoted, and faithful.

So, do animals have spirits? Here are some Bible verses and God’s perspective:

“Ask the animals, and they will teach you...In God’s hand is the life of every creature, and the breath of all mankind.” (Job 12:7 and10)

“A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal.” (Proverbs 12:10) Not many people think of measuring righteousness by this standard.

And in regard to the question are there animals in heaven:

Ecclesiastes 3:19: “After all, the same fate awaits human beings and animals alike. One dies just like the other. They are the same kind of creature. A human being is no better off than an animal, because life has no meaning for either.”

Eccl 3:20: “They are both going to the same place-—the dust. They both came from it; they will both go back to it.”

Eccl 3:21: “How can anyone be sure that the human spirit goes upward while an animal’s spirit goes down into the ground?”

Of course, the human animal can make choices in regard to God/Jesus, but not the four legged beasts. But Scripture is pretty clear that there will be animals in the new world after He folds this one up.

I remember years ago, while broadcasting on radio in upstate New York, having a young girl calling me on the air. She was crying because her dog was sick. She asked me to pray for her dog. I had never done that before, but she was so desperate, I did it. Some people called me and said I shouldn’t have done that, because God wasn’t involved in healing animals. Those folks apparently didn’t know God very well. Because a short time later the young girl called back laughing and excited saying her dog was better!

I have prayed for many animals since then.

The Scripture says He knows about every bird that falls to the ground too. God does care about animals. As a matter of fact there are some churches that hold a blessing of the animal’s service. “God’s hand is in the life of every creature.”

12 hours after GoGo died, I awoke suddenly to feel and see a wet spot on the back of my hand. About 30 seconds later I heard the unmistakable "ka chee ka chee ka chee ka chee of her nails across the hardwood floor and the lap lap lap of her big goofy tongue buried in the water dish which I left full for her.

I was not surprised she came back to let me know everything was just fine.

Animals have no souls. Your pets have no souls. They don’t go to heaven. They don’t come back as ghosts. Only humans have a soul and an afterlife.

It was a couple of summers ago that I posted on the FR garden thread my best friend had come in from the garden with me. I would hear her drinking from the water bowl and laying down with a big sigh. It happened about three times within a few days. She’s been gone for 15 or so years and is missed terribly.
