I had the most wonderful dog that I rescued, half Corgi and half Shepherd. He loved me more than anything in this world and after having him almost 10 years, he died. I mourned him for 3 years and one night I cried myself to sleep, completely inconsolable. That night I dreamed about him. He came running up to me and we were in this meadow and ran and chased each other the entire dream. I was laughing and he kept running in front of me and looking at me over his shoulder with that big grin on his face, his tongue flapping in the wind. Finally I heard the birds chirping and I felt that morning was coming. I knelt down and hugged him and opened my eyes with a gasp. I could still feel where I had hugged him and I knew that he had come to me to let me know that he was okay.

About 15 years ago, I had a similar experience with my Dalmatian Dylan who passed on at age 13. On the first anniversary of his death I was thinking about him before I went to bed.
That night while sleeping, I suddenly found myself walking on a trail in the woods. It was surreal in that I knew I was in a dream and I knew I was there to meet Dylan. The woods were beautiful, the ground was wet and the sun was just coming up and there was a faint fog rising up from the ground. As I walked, I saw Dylan in the distance. The sun was shining on his white coat it was such a beautiful sight. When he saw me, he immediately came joyfully running to me. Just as he got to me, I reached down to embrace him but I suddenly woke up just before I could touch him. I honestly believe that what I experienced was not a normal dream and was indeed my dog communicating to me that he was okay.
