How Ryan Lochte turned a drunken, frat-boy night into an international mess
Yeah, its come to this: The story of the Olympics, a likely fake claim of robbery at the end of a drunken night of debauchery turned into global story courtesy of a publicity-mad swimmer-turned-reality-TV-star who, unlike his three buddies teammates Jimmy Feigen, Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz is home safe in the United States.
This is likely bad news for Ryan Lochte, who appears to have found his three compatriots throwing him under the bus to authorities. At least two of the swimmers are at the jail, and have reportedly told police Lochte made up the story.

Geez, aren't you glad to hear that girls - and not boys, trannies, vinyl sex toys or farm animals - are involved?
Bingo. Swimmers ‘fess up with the script handed them, go home to party on. Brazilian pride and 3rd world hellhole government face saved. IOC moves on to the next multi-billion dollar deal.
You should lighten up on the Pepsi, it appears...
As the story develops, I’m doubting the “girls” part. I’m starting to believe the swimmers.
I think all of this points to what a pathetic joke the Olympics are.
Well, it may show they were telling the truth after all. I gave myself 9 to 1 odds it was a cover up for something embarrassing. 90% likely it was a robbery.
I love Brasil, but I darn well know the reality favors the "police behaving badly" here. They were also part of the rounding up and slaughter of the homeless following and preceding my first and second visit to Rio. People were afraid to discuss it and only whispered about it behind closed doors.
The 10% part? Well, I've been to Rio and uhm, yeah, the place is crawling with "all sorts of professionals".
What happened to ‘let’s wait until ALL the facts are in’?
What event was the roundup for? This time, too?
Please explain
Why not. If reversed, we would do same. Actions have consequences.
Then Rio won rights to hold the first "Earth Conference" - an international environmental forum to deal with the fairy tale of global warming and other falsehoods. I mean, who cares if it is real or not? They won something.
So prior to this conference they embarked on a mass effort to clean up the image of Rio. Mostly, that meant removing the homeless. They had an efficient solution. A final one.
They removed what homeless they could and relocated them. For those who would not leave, they killed them.
Everyone knew about it. Murders were constant and brutal. Military police were known to participate whether by private contract or state orders. No one who lived in the streets was going to be permitted to continue either in the streets and living if they didn't agree with the first part. They buried them outside of the city in the hills.
Again, everyone knew about it. They spoke in hushed whispers behind closed doors of what they saw, what they heard and what others spoke of. It was a wholesale slaugter.
When I got back weeks before the conference, there were 2 homeless in the street out of the sea of thousands I saw during my first visit. World cup fever had struck by then, Brasil moved on...I mean FUTBOL!!! They won that year.
Thousands of dead homeless never lived long enough to witness it.
Anyway, years later I met a girl who's father escapes the Nazis and settled in Rio. She explained that the homeless were animals and could not be salvaged as human beings. So much for the lessons of WWII and human compassion.
Anyway, I take from the culture the beauty it offers, but completely recognize it's current state of "not ready for prime time". A pity the olympic committee, which thrives on bribery, didn't recognize this before this disaster.
Oh well, at least they avoided Chicago...
What scares me Donna is that this is not widely known history. I speak of it to remember the dead. This was a massive atrocity. It is repeated regularly, I am told.
Anyway, those who travel down to these regions and do not respect what has happened and what can happen are courting total disaster.
She explained that the homeless were animals and could not be salvaged as human beings.
If is the same process always, dehumanize and then it's acceptable to kill.
I thought of this when I read one of those anti-Trump columns early on where the author said the unemployed ex-middleclass now drug/porn user Americans should just die. It was like a foreshadowing of just such things.
I'm glad I believe in Jesus.
If this Lochte schmuck had a functioning brain cell, he would have grasped that in slandering Brazil, w/his tale of horse manure, he was also damaging the reputation of the United States.
And if he had any character, he would stand before cameras and microphones; then apologize to both Brazilians and Americans.
