How Ryan Lochte turned a drunken, frat-boy night into an international mess
Yeah, it’s come to this: The story of the Olympics, a likely fake claim of robbery at the end of a drunken night of debauchery turned into global story courtesy of a publicity-mad swimmer-turned-reality-TV-star who, unlike his three buddies – teammates Jimmy Feigen, Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz – is home safe in the United States.
This is likely bad news for Ryan Lochte, who appears to have found his three compatriots throwing him under the bus to authorities. At least two of the swimmers are at the jail, and have reportedly told police Lochte made up the story.

Yeah, telling a tall tale about a night on the town where nobody was harmed and no crimes were committed certainly deserves some hard prison time! Up to 3 years, I’m told, is the max sentence for lying to a cop in Brazil. About nothing, as it happens.
Now, the media thinks this story is more important than President Obama on vacation while coffins float in Louisiana.

What if you lie to a cop in Brazil as he is robbing you at gunpoint? Is that still a crime?

This is a non-story, how many bodies washed up on the beaches of Rio, how many were robbed in Rio today? Give me a break. It’s because he’s white and folks hate America that this is getting so much coverage.
How long has the Road To Rio been going on.........6-8 months? How much longer 2 years?

Oh it wasn’t a major headline or anything. I was just laughing commenting on there was a chance the original story about police robbing them might be to cover up something else more embarrassing. Had to post the story when the 10% chance I had of being right on this actually bore put as true.

Oh, also, Facebook is reporting Obamas golf binge during the flooding. At least most of the folks I know are posting the story and they haven’t pulled it yet. That’s how I learned about it outside of FR. Word is getting out...
What’s the charge? Lying to Matt Lauer?
There was no false police report or anything like that. As stupid as they are, their detention is actually more of an issue for me than any bogus holdup claims they made to the media.
