There is growing talk on the right of replacing Donald Trump, the Republican Partys presumptive nominee for president, and even chatter about a possible alternative.
As Trump has floundered over the past week after questioning a federal judges impartiality because of his Mexican ancestry, Trumps critics within the GOP have stepped up their efforts to thwart him. Some anti-Trump conservatives, who have tried for months to recruit an independent candidate, have begun looking more closely at attempting to persuade delegates at next months GOP convention to nominate someone other than Trump.
There is a rapidly moving train toward the convention to try to obstruct it at the convention. Trump in the last 72 hours has given hope to people who think its now possible, said Erick Erickson, a conservative radio talk show host and one of Trumps most resolute critics.

Forget Yahoo. This is being reported in every news outlet I see. This judge thing has GOP members panicking. For me? I don’t think they’ve ever STOPPED thinking about replacing Trump. I don’t believe a thing they say.
There are still some folks who talk about it, but among the delegations at the Georgia state convention, including former Cruz and Rubio supporters, we collectively are behind Trump, who has earned the nomination.
At our convention, there were some openings left who were voted on for alternates. Each applicant was asked if they will support Trump by the entire state convention. To a man, they all not only said “Yes!” but were outdoing each other for how emphatically they said “Yes!”.
Besides that, most of the senior Georgia politicians (congressmen and Sen.Issakson) were foursquare behind the presumptive nominee. They probably don’t love Trump, but they know which way the wind is blowing, and it is a gale.
I have no beef with people who believe that Trump has enough problems that they cannot in personal conscience vote for him. I was that man in past elections. BUT, ALL of these folks had no problem WHATSOEVER voting for a guy like Romney, who has been a far smarmier and double-crossing and has NO CREDIBILITY on any issue that matters. Then, it is not a matter of conscience, it is a matter of preference for a certain aristocratic bearing or personal enrichment. THAT is why they cannot get a decent candidate.
“If it did the GOP would be banished to the desert for several generations”
GOP would cease to exist.
Most of the stuff you hear through media is Noise Machine nonsense. Of course, most of us know that and are used to having to de-code it and see past it, we do it all day every day. You couldn’t be a conservative and believe what you are told to believe.
What they are talking about doing would work on the average Repub politician, but it isn’t going to work on this guy and it isn’t going to work on us.
What it could do, however, is lay the plausible cover for a massive vote fraud. Again, any other Repub would lay down for vote fraud but I don’t think this one will.
Clinton can’t win without committing major felonies, but we know she is quite capable of doing exactly that... and our GOPe grandees are quite willing to play along. So its not over until its over.
That's why the media is pushing this so hard.
The establishment Pubs don’t want to get rid of Trump because they are afraid he’ll lose, they want rid of him because their terrified he’ll win.
I have no doubt a lot of the GOPe still want to replace Trump with Hillary (or someone guaranteed to lose to Hillary).
And they want a lot of us to leave the party - their big tent is getting a little too crowded with people who aren’t exactly like them.
And, it’s better to lose power and the responsibility that comes with the majority party. Just continue being a lobbing firm with elected representatives rather than employees doing the lobbying.
Erick Erickson.
LOL.
Mark Cuban, who calls himself an independent, on Fox Business predicts no matter what Trump does, Hillary wins in a landslide. Says he hasn’t decided who to vote for yet, but it will be Trump if fauxahontas Warren is on the ticket.
There is a reason they call Republicans "the stupid party", and this is just one more example of why the voters all Republican candidates depend on are fed up with the party.
Throw in Dole and McCain while you're at it. Those two had "loser" written all over them, but nobody talked about staging a convention coup and dumping them.
This whole scheme has been concocted by the Dems and the GOPe to keep the outsider out. Just like they did to Herman Cain. Their kabuki theatre is totally transparent if you carefully pay attention.
Idiotic fantasies by a few bitter GOPe dressed up as a news story.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
This is old news and will never happen. Why are we beating a dead horse?
Erik Erickson is usually the source of these stories
Actually, how big is this sour-grapes coalition anyway?
It seems to be a small number of LOUD mouths who are making noise because that gets them media attention.
Trump has over 1500 delegates. Even if the Rules Committee does makes policy changes, the full convention has to vote on them. Over 300 would have to turn against Trump for any “anti” movement to succeed.
A bigger problem for Trump could be those backstabbing establishment Republicans trying to stymy everything President Trump tries to do.
The real purpose of the Republican Party is increasingly being revealed. Their job is to give the appearance of there being opposition to the Democrats, while making sure that nothing obstructs the Globalist agenda.
Trump is a threat to that UniParty agenda, hence the GOPE opposition to Trump, regardless of how popular Trump may be with the Base.
If the GOP does that, I WILL vote for Hillary.
