I'll keep this vanity short ... Mods: please feel free to pull it if it's inappropriate.
Why have so many here on FR turned on Ted Cruz in such a vicious way?
We cheered when we first heard about Ted taking on the establishment in TX to win the primary in the race to fill Kay Bailey Hutchison's vacated Senate seat, in a bad year for the GOP
We cheered again when Ted exhorted us to 'Stand With Rand' when he offered public support for Rand Paul's filibuster over the NDAA
Once more, we cheered when he stood on the Senate floor and urged his colleagues to join him and use the power of the purse to kill Obamacare
We nodded our collective heads in approval when he openly and correctly called Mitch McConnell a liar
And we jumped for joy when he became the first GOPer to announce a presidential run!
So ... what happened? Yes, Trump announced. But at first, not too many people took him seriously. For the longest time, there seemed to be an unspoken pact between Trump and Cruz, where they occasionally said nice things about each other while bashing the other candidates.
But ever since the voting began and Trump turned on Cruz (starting with the Ben Carson imbroglio in Iowa), a large contingent of FReepers did the same and seem to be echoing RINOs like John Boehner and Peter King in their absolute abhorrence of Cruz.
Yes, we need to choose sides, but for God's sake, can't we send that kind of vitriol in the direction that it belongs, ie. Hildabeast and the 'Rat Party, and knock off the circular firing squad?
Because he’s a giant dork
You kidding? This is the first article I could find that was posted here about Boehner’s statement. Check out the comments, you will see.

Sums it up rather nicely.
Well, then, forgiving will have to suffice...
Vote Trump
Not anymore. He has since flip-flopped on the issue. http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/265889-cruz-flip-flops-on-snowden
He did it solely to avoid being attacked by Rubio on the issue. It was a craven act.
My reasons. Switched to Trump as soon as he got it. Unfortunately Cruz has been a big letdown how he’s conducted his campaign. Twists Trump’s positions, surrounds himself with the wrong people.
1. Trump is better at manhandling the media
2. Outsider, world class businessman, winner; will lead to more jobs than Cruz.
3. America First
4. The Wall. Stands for law and order.
5. Great family, reflects well on the character of DJT
6. In it for the right reasons, Make America Great Again. Cruz too ambitious.
7. No worse than Grade B on any of my top issues.
8. Can flip states Romney lost red.
It's not "garbage". It's the truth, and isn't ruining a thing, except for maybe your tender feelings.
BTW, Ted is a total scumbag, and he's done a lot to earn that distinction.
Apparently, seemingly overnight and because of the syncophetic love for Trump, the evil ones are now, Cruz, Limbaugh, Beck, Levin and Scott Walker.
Trump is the only true Conservative, everyone who has been fighting in the trenches against the progress of liberalism is a fraud. Only Trump is the true one, only Trump is the truthful one. And only Trump can save the Republican.
Freepers are going to be seriously disappointed if he’s elected. Stand by for Clinton light....
9. TPP
10. Lyin’ Ted (i.e., his whole personality)
11. The people around him
12. The booger
“Trump and the rest used tried and true socialistic techniques to destroy Cruz.”
Untrue and unnecessary. Mostly we stood back while “Ted” (not his real name) Cruz determinedly stalled and crashed his campaign at the end of the runway. No real effort needed.
Nonsense. Trump's missteps have been juvenile, or comical.
Ted Cruz's actions have been profoundly disturbing.
He played the race card before the Chicago fiasco, for God's sake!
Ted Cruz has exhibited a pronounced tendency to say or do anything to try to win. He's happy to take Machiavellian shortcuts, and has attempted them several times along the way.
In short, Ted Cruz, the GOPe (but I repeat myself) and their ilk in the Media and Left have engaged in a systematic campaign of demonization of Donald Trump.
This character assassination campaign, perpetrated by the unholy alliance noted above, has been blatantly slanted, unprincipled, and unprecedented.
To see a corrupt, entrenched power structure so threatened by one person; so dedicated to thwarting the will of the People; so terrified of having their apple cart upturned and losing their spot at the feeding trough; so hysterical that they want to destroy a decent, red-blooded American success story who loves his country and will work tirelessly and energetically to help make America great again; makes me sad.
It's disappointing to see irrational hatred towards Donald Trump or Ted Cruz, but, to quote George W. Bush regarding Ted Cruz: "I just don't like the guy!". That's currently where I am with Ted Cruz after what I've seen from him.
Vote Trump
As a Senator Cruz accomplished nothing !
Alinsky wrote of the techniques, read his book. Stalin took it to the extremes but used a gun. Goebbels used the same methods successfully.
You need to get away from FR and expand you sphere of knowledge. They still publish those wonderful items called books.
I agree completely.
Cruz does a lot of stuff I don’t like, but we need to keep a second choice available just in case something happens to Trump. For all his faults, Cruz is the only decent second choice there is.
I’ve had to look past Trump’s faults. I can look past Cruz’s.
You get a bit carried away. Cruz has been caught lying by every Fox News type.
“...beyond dead....compost”
ComposTed.
Heh...
There is no “either one of our guys” anymore. There is Trump, and then there are the guys who have lost and are doing their best to make sure the last Globalist standing (i.e. Shillary) wins.
That’s pretty much where we stand now.
The appeal of Trump is the "wall" and a roll back of offshoring and putting America first in trade and other areas. Cruz cannot do that.
Says I. Cruz has been caught lying by Greta, Wallace, Hannity, etc.
