What has happened to the Free Republic that I cant break away from? You know the one where you knew something big was happening in the world because you couldnt open the site because of too much traffic (late 90s)? The one that where you read articles that were of great interest on science, religion, or the bizarro? The one where you would have to don a flame retardant suit if you posted something that was outside the thought prevailing thought process of the other posters? I long for those days as I am sure many of us do as well as those that left. I dont particularly care for the bulk of the political posting but, like watching television, have decided not to open them up rather than throw in the towel and leave the site. Yet Im still here waiting for those days to return, checking in every 15 minutes for earth shaking news. These days will pass albeit slower than I like and so too will this election cycle. Interesting times are ahead
1.Maddie Blaustein: a voice actor in several video games, including Sonic the Hedgehog and Pokemon, and the founder of the popular Second Life.
2.Lisa Lee Dark: A Welsh actress and voice performer, she was raised as a boy because doctors didnt realize she was biologically female. Sent to an all-boys school, she was badly bullied because she didnt act the way a boy was expected to act.
3.Gottlieb Gottlich: A man who was one of the very first medical subjects to be studied for genital confusion. He was raised as a female but in his 30s began having severe abdominal pains; the investigation led to determining that he was actually male.
4.Sarah Gronert: This retired tennis player won a total of ten titles. She was born with both male and female genitalia; upon surgery at the age of 19, she is now considered physically and biologically to be a woman.
5.Iain Morland: A music technologist and author from England, he is a leading academic in the field of sex research. He was subject to numerous surgeries throughout his childhood in order to determine his gender.
6.Dee Palmer. The former keyboardist for band Jethro Tull, Palmer was once known as David Palmer. Assigned as a female at birth, she went through numerous surgeries. After her wife died in 1995, she began to focus more on her intersex questions.
7.Veronique Renard: A visual artist and author, she was diagnosed with Klinefelters syndrome in her teens, and chose to transition to a female. She became the youngest woman in the world to go through complete gender reassignment surgery.
8.Caster Semenya: A world champion and South African distance runner, she was subjected to gender testing in 2009 after winning the World Championship. This was one of the first widely-known cases of gender testing in the athletic world and led to an uproar among medical professionals and athletes alike.
9.Erik Schinegger: A skier who won many awards, he was originally known as female, but a medical test before the 1968 Olympics revealed that he was actually male. He chose to transition to life as a man, and eventually married and became a father.
10.Caroline Cossey: Once a Bond girl in the James Bond films, she was raised as a male but had a female appearance. At the age of 17, she chose to transition to life as a woman. She had gender reassignment surgery and was eventually outed by tabloids as being raised as male.
Sex chromosome disorders - instead of having either XX or XY sex chromosomes, a baby may have a mixture of both ('mosaic' chromosomes); or specific genes on the Y chromosome may be inactive; or one of the X chromosomes may have a tiny Y segment attached to it. Research at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) indicates that ambiguous genitalia can be caused by the doubling up of a particular gene (named WNT-4) on the sex chromosome. This variation will interfere with male sexual development so that a genetically male baby will appear female.
I’d give the nod to the Richard and make them go with the rest of the Richards.
The thing is that almost all Trump supporters last fall were former Cruz supporters, openly hoping for a Trump/Cruz ticket.
Cruz supporters last November/December went ape$hot on people supporting Trump, and never let up. They even went after JimRob more than once!
Now they play victim and pretend like some evil cult forced them off of FR.
I saw the exact same sort of crap from both sides.
It’s good to see civility coming back. And yes, I know I did my share of flaming in here.
You think the last Civil War ended? They just quit shooting, but it's still being fought.
Well, that’s philosophical! Good job.
Aw, how could I have missed such low hanging fruit. You win the internet today, Laz.

As in a Hermaphrodite? Correct me if I am wrong, but don’t most chose which sex to identify with and resemble the most?
Well, maybe on FR.
I’m not aware of any genuine hermaphroditic humans surgically enhanced or not
Don’t let the door hit you on the way in...
Things sure changed a lot in the intervening time period.
We don’t make general rules to cater to a tiny percentage of the population that happen to have a genetic defect.
For example, at the amusement park, is it fair that a midget can’t ride the rides because they are as short as a 6 year old? No, it’s not. However, we aren’t going to build special tiny rollercoasters just to accommodate them. They just have to get used to riding the teacups and bumper cars.
There are arguments about it on FR, but the conflicts over the Civil War are still with us today. The 14th amendment is constantly redefining what had been settled law*, and the economic animosities and power blocks started in that era, are still influencing the nation today.
The Roots of excessive Federal Dominance over the states started in 1861, and have only gotten worse ever since. If you look around at many of the current problems the nation is facing, you will find many of their roots lie in that Civil War, and from the manner in which it was resolved.
Look around.

* Abortion, Banning Prayer in Schools, Anchor Babies, "Gay" Marriage, "Affirmative Action", and the meaning of "natural born citizen" are all examples of where the 14th amendment has been distorted to impact things which never had anything to do with it's intended purpose.
to the hot place...
Free Republic is no longer frequented by those who believe constitutional principles are bedrock. Instead the emphasis is on “American principles”, a very slippery slope. Unfortunately, Hillary, Barack and Bernie can all lay claim to representing American principles, which are simply the political soup de jure.
This is an anti-intellectual trend. And no I am not an anti-Trump proponent like the NRO pseudo-intellectuals. I’m just saying you cant have intellectual discourse when we are assaulted by memes (”Lyin’ Ted” is a meme, not discourse).
If I say, for example, that Donald Trump’s Ethanol policy is pandering cronyism, I will be called a friend of Lucifer for pointing out that ethanol is an environmental and economic disaster. When in the throes of a personality cult, don’t expect enlightenment from those wielding pitchforks.
On the voters taking their delegates with bribes?
Things are quieting down. Many have self deported over the past few weeks.
Lyin' Ted is mocking - a long-standing staple of political discourse.
And appropriate, since Ted routinely plays fast and loose with facts in order to make them say something different.
