An author is receiving backlash after voicing that childless women also deserve a maternity leave. The concept is deemed a "meternity" leave, and Meghann Foye makes her statement in an article in the New York Post.
Foye, 38, thought up the idea when she was a magazine editor and became "envious" of her co-workers who would leave to care for their children after their eight hour days. She said that she felt as if all of the childless workers had to then pick up the slack and work for ten or more hours a day.

Um, I hate to break it to you but most women don't wake up at 50 and say: hey! they never told me I couldn't have children at 50 or 60! Even Cosmopolitan Magazine was honest about that. And since most women visit gynecologists on a regular basis who actually harp on reminding women about their window closing, I think you're trying to hand a rubber peach to a gullible child.

If a woman adopts a child then many organizations do grant maternity or bonding leave.
Not seeing the problem or drama here so long as there’s a child involved.

Well said. I skipped the college/career path and went straight to the stay-at-home-mom path. And I’d never trade my six kids (yes!) for forty cats...ever!!!

I think where there may be some resentment even more so than maternity leave is where others, meaning men and single women, in the workplace are called on more often to either travel or be on call for the company and supervisors tend to call less on women with children. Happens quite a bit at the aerospace company my daughter works for.She is on call more frequently and called on to travel more than her married with children counterparts.

Intel gives you sabbaticals every few years. About the same length. She just needs a new job.

I paid around $500 for mine plus all the accessories and extra parts. However, if you’re on WIC fed gov will give you one for FREE! Then you can pump, claim you can’t produce even though you do, get $$$ for formula, and then sell the formula for profit while continuing to pump for your baby.

It’s easy to say as a stay at home mom. Business doesn’t deal with maternity issues well. Mom gets to go home but all the other workers have to scramble to do all of the missing employee’s work. I hate to tell you but it, does, indeed, cause resentment.

Socially and psychologically, her growth has been stunted along the way. We have a bumper crop of these growth stunted freaks in society today.
