Cruz: The One We Waited For... and then Rejected

I don't know about you but I'm sick and tired of this election season. FR has turned into a bickering board of bitter bubbleheads, it seems. Where we used to see Ted Cruz as a principled conservative... we now attack anyone who likes him as a "Cruzite" or "Cruzombie"... what happened?

First, there was the attack against him that he played dirty tricks in Iowa by relaying an MSM message that Carson was leaving the race. What would you do? If you are in a popularity contest against multiple opponents, wouldn't you make sure that the votes of an ideological brother weren't wasted on a failed effort? It's a logical reasoning... and you don't have days to debate it in committee, you have minutes and seconds before votes are tallied. That Cruz apologized at all for this news media-inspired fiasco shows him to be the bigger man.

Then what? He's following the rules and gathering delegates? I thought we wanted someone who knows how the game is played and can win elections... silly me. The Trump supporters don't seem to realize that DT is not the closer he claims to be. He is riding a wave of populism but is losing on the rules because he is disorganized and unprepared.

Saying all of this doesn't mean I am anti-Trump... I am anti-Dem whether the Dem is Hillary, Bernie, or Biden. Doesn't matter to me. If Trump is the eventual nominee, he will get my vote to stop the Dem machine's destruction of our great country.

In the primary, though, I want the most conservative in the race who has shown he knows how to win. That man is Ted Cruz. Why he is slimed on a conservative board is beyond me... and it saddens me. Maybe he isn't your guy... fine. Why does he have to be slimed? If he does manage to pull out an upset... what have you accomplished but hurting our best chance for conservative restoration in this country?

Principled conservatives don’t cosponsor the Corker Bill and disenfranchise voters.

Just because you believe Ted Cruz is a principled conservative doesn’t mean he is.

Just in case you never noticed, politicians are liars, and Republican politicians in particular are masters of making people think that they are on the same side when they most certainly are not on the same side.

Right, Cruz has done more to preserve the Constitution than anyone else who could possibly be named. Well, except for the part where he opts to ignore the very first prerequisite for attaining the office of President.

For me, there really is no reason to look beyond that one point.

The notion that a person born a citizen of another country could also be a natural born citizen of the the United States is ludicrous. Cruz knows it but is running anyhow.

Truthfully, I know everything that I will ever need to know about that man right there. Other issues would be of concern, but that one is plenty enough for me.

List me too. Trump condones violence, lies like the left then calls Cruz out on the splinter in his eye. Trump is a thug in a nice suit and Chinese made tie. I will never vote trump. He has brainwashed people to believe hes not who he was in the past, even last year in saying he was for universal healthcare. I can send you the 2015 video of him saying it himself.

There is no REPUBLIC, without democracy first.

It is DEMOCRACY that guards the REPUBLIC.

Representative government— does that ring a bell?

Your representatives are derived from delegate stacking, a few thousand, at a convention.

There is no democratic vote. A democratic vote is one man one vote. The people have voted. TRUMP is there nominee.

Their vote is discarded. The outcome is in the hands of a few. They are called “delegates”. Wake up. That isn’t democracy. It’s play acting.

Get it?

is it that much of a shock to see Cruz who claimed he was the highest of principles and Integrity turned out to be at the lowest principles and the least integrity

I have listened to him and watched him. He has been very consistent and principled. I would be willing to bet it's been a long time since you listened to him directly rather than hearing about him from outside sources... sources that don't particularly like him or share his views.

open your eyes and look at his actions and see what he really is...

My eyes are open. Can you say the same for your candidate? If your candidate is DT... have you noticed that you could have a full debate with his past self and his current self? You can't do that with Ted Cruz.

Always had Cruz as my #2. Still do. However, his inability to stand up to protesters in Chicago and instead blame Trump for the violence really disappointed me. He could have been a leader. He could have sent a message. Instead he went for political points.

after all the idiocy thrown at Cruz... this is the only one that is mostly True. I wish he had stood up against the professional agitators.

You’re correct about turnout. I don’t recall the exact numbers but because Republicans were faced with losers like McCain and Romney there were millions less votes cast than there were when Bush won twice.

I predict that many of us who hate Trump or hate Cruz will be too bitterly upset to vote at all when one (or even both) of them fail to make it to November.

Ted never was the one I was waiting for as far as a presidential candidate goes. Born in Canada with a Cuban father does not meet the criteria for a natural born citizen.

I had no problem with him for any other job just not that one.

But now I do have problems with him. The first was that he ran for an office that he is not qualified for. I would have the same problem if he was 33 years old. Not qualified is not qualified. If he is such a hot shot "Constitutional Harvard Lawyer" then he knows this. That he chooses to try to explain it away means either he is not such a great "Constitutional Harvard Lawyer" or he has allowed his ambition to out run his ethics. A common problem with lawyers.

The second, and one I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on, is that he is a lawyer. Law school trains you not to respect and follow the law but how to twist it for your own ends. This tends to result in people who should not be in political office.

Third is the people that he chooses to hang out with. Enough on that subject.

The last has been his behavior on the campaign. What you explain away as being good at the game I find troubling and shady.

So there you go.

I am not overjoyed to have to vote for Trump but, while he is not "The ONE I have been waiting for", he is eligible. I can hold my nose and vote for Kasich if the choice is between him and whoever the democrats nominate.

But I have not spent the past eight years maintaining that O-Bummer was not eligible for the office because he was not a NBC for the exact same reasons as Cruz is not only to turn on a dime and say it is ok because he is "one of us."

I won't do it.

Well, you know what the Cruzbots say, "Our lawyer is better than their lawyer", which has been doing a wonderful job of stopping the democrat fascist Globalist agenda, so how can anyone argue ?

Perhaps because this year is a year where we've had enough of Harvard educated lawyer/politicians who are seen as part of the establishment and are immensely disliked and distrusted?

As a Trump supporter I have yet to go nasty on someone not sharing my point of view. It seems a destructive.

I also believe Cruz is the most conservative in this race. The problem is that “true” conservatives are a minority in this country. If Cruz is the nominee, he will get my undivided support in the general election.

I also know that Trump isn’t a “true” or “pure” conservative. On the issues he’s been running on since last June, he is sufficient conservative. For me, the border is issue number one.

Cruz was the first to declare running for the presidency. I was excited when he first announced. I believe if Cruz made immigration his top issue at that time, if he took the lead role on that issue, he’d be the front runner today. He did not and handed the leadership role to Trump who did.

The border and the economy are linked and I believe Trump is the best guy to get that done.

I hope those who hate Trump and/or Cruz can still “get out and vote.” Hillary MUST be stopped. Our Republic is hanging by a thread.

I guess my opinion about Cruz changed when:
- I learned he was born in Canada

He is a Natural Born Citizen of the USA as decided by the courts. His history shows he is a patriot and a strong conservative.

- I learned his wife works for Goldman Sachs

You really think it matters that his wife worked at Goldman Sachs? Trump’s numerous wives were foreigners, so what? You really think that has, or will influence his policies? Get real!

- I learned that his Senate campaign was financed by loans from Goldman

He borrowed from a bank against his personal assets. And he repaid the loans with interest. Does it matter where he borrowed the money? Trump has borrowed billions from Big New York Banks. So what!!

- I learned that his record on immigration was muddled

Trump’s history is more than muddled having supported amnesty in the past, and now supporting “touch back” amnesty. Cruz has opposed amnesty consistently, will secure the borders, and supports deportation and enforcing the laws. Sounds good to me.

- I learned that he has been in favor of all the recent trade deals

He initially supported one deal, but has since changed to opposing it. The other he has opposed from the start.

Cruz has a lot more to like than dislike, and he has been a conservative his whole career. Can you say that about Trump??? An honest answer is NO!
