Seems like good advice.
Over here!
If you're not sure whether a program requires QuickTime, contact the program's developer. Most recent media-related programs for Windowsincluding iTunes 10.5 or laterno longer use QuickTime to play modern media formats. These programs either play the media directly or use the media support built into Windows.Uninstalling QuickTime 7 also removes the legacy QuickTime 7 web plug-in, if present. Websites increasingly use the HTML5 web standard for a better video-playback experience across a wide range of browsers and devices, without additional software or plug-ins. Removing legacy browser plug-ins enhances the security of your PC.
Apple should provide a downloadable uninstaller. Many Windows users have never uninstalled a program.
Everytime I update eyetunes they tell me I need it.
I resemble that.
Do you want to uninstall Quicktime?
This speaks volumes about the future RELIABILITY of Apple and its products.
I’ve fought to get it uninstalled or at least to convince browsers that it’s gone. Years after finally getting rid of the POS I still get the occasional “this is a file Quicktime doesn’t understand”.
Good riddance.
It’s already gone. I gave up on it a long time ago.
LOL. No, not really. QuickTime for Windows was always kind of the red-headed stepchild; I always considered it half-baked and rather unstable.
It arguably had a purpose in the beginning, long, long ago when Windows didn't have squat for media playback applications.
QuickTime hasn't been relevant on Windows in many years. This is just cleanup.
But if you just want to hate on Apple, you go right ahead. This is, after all, a Windows thread, and there are plenty of fellow Apple haters among the Redmond faithful. :-)

Re: my links in #13 - You don’t need to uninstall ITunes to uninstall Quicktime. You can use the linked Revo uninstaller to remove just Quicktime.
In fact there are very good reasons for keeping iTunes around on your Windows machine. If you don't have a Mac, managing any iDevices is a LOT easier with iTunes for Windows than any other Windows program I've found.
I've got both (Windows and Mac boxes) and have iTunes on all of them. Unlike QuickTime, iTunes seems quite stable.
Be nice.
He didn’t even impugn your/the Apple CEO’s sexual preferences, current employer or anything....
Must be a newby, or the #AttackApple cadre is going soft on us. (Or maybe they’re worried that FR is becoming so culturally annoyed about the number of semi-pro trolls on the site, they might just get a thermonuclear zot along with the genuine bad acts.)
BTW, QuickTime on all of the computers in The Homestead is....gone.
True, but I'm in a cranky mood tonight and the anti-Apple bunch is on my sh*t-list, along with (to be fair) the Redmond bunch (had to do Windows F**king Updates manually today on a bunch of machines).
The only software that hasn't pissed me off today is my Linux box. But I'm keeping one eye open... it'll probably sneak up on me later...
