We should shine lasers into space if we want to hide our presence from aliens, two US-based astronomers suggest.
The beams could compensate for the dip in light the Earth creates when it passes in front of the Sun, as viewed from far-off worlds, they contend.
But an alternative might be to use a laser simply to disguise the interesting aspects about Earth - features in its atmosphere that betray the fact that life exists here. These are a suite of gases that include oxygen, ozone and methane.

The assumption of this article is that alien technology has to be as sucky as ours. 50 years ago we could not find extraterrestrial planets and even today we have planets in her own solar system we can’t find. Who knows what sensor technology we will have to view planets in the future, let alone the aliens might have.
If aliens were smart enough to get here, they probably have technology that would make this concept a joke to them.
I can imagine all the collisions form space alien freighters that did not see the earth and crash.
