Ted Cruz denies affairs report; attacks Trump

Responding to a National Enquirer story alleging he had multiple extramarital affairs, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz on Friday blamed the report on Donald Trump and "his henchmen."

Cruz said the report was untrue.

He called Trump "a rat" and said there is no level to which he won't stoop.

"The question that people are asking is how low will Donald go," Cruz said.

Cruz accused Trump of being a coward who has problems with "strong women."

Cruz was in Oshkosh Friday morning at Lakeside Plastics for a campaign stop.

Later speaking to reporters, he went on the attack against Trump and his shoot-from-the-hip style.

"It will not be sufficient for a president. He will send tweets at Putin," Cruz said.

I want to be crystal clear: these attacks are garbage. For Donald J. Trump to enlist his friends at the National Enquirer and his political henchmen to do his bidding shows you that there is no low Donald won’t go.

These smears are completely false, they’re offensive to Heidi and me, they’re offensive to our daughters, and they’re offensive to everyone Donald continues to personally attack.

Donald Trump’s consistently disgraceful behavior is beneath the office we are seeking and we are not going to follow.

Looking upon this in as objectively as I can, Cruz made a dreadful mistake getting into the pigpen with Trump. The Donald is a master, with bottomless resources to bring the pain. Before, it was all the typical tit-for-tat crap you get with a contentious election. With the Melania ad from the Cruz PAC, a nerve got hit and the gloves came off.

None of this had to happen, now the spectacle is going to reach a new low and some personal lives are going to be shattered when it's all over. Ted, you should've left well enough alone months ago.

When you run as a “pure” Christian and constitutional conservative, and then these allegations come up??? Cruz is NOT a “pure” anything. The ONLY Pure Person is JESUS CHRIST! To worship Cruz in such a way is disgusting. If Cruz doesn’t come out against this story, then there is truth to it. It’s Lying Cruz’s fault for putting himself and his family in this tragic situation. He was so arrogant that he probably thought this would stay hidden. Not so for someone trying to become President of the United States!

ALL of Trump’s personal life has been on display and he has been constantly trashed by Cruz supporters.

If this story is true, did Cruz ask God to forgive him the first time he committed adultery…the second time…the third time…the fourth time…maybe the fifth time? Sad.

National Enquiror could just as easily began sniffing around Houston (where Ted has enemies) in the wake of the Ashley Madison scandal.

I was still in the Cruz Camp when that broke, and to be honest, I sort of stuffed it into the closet.

I had long clung to the illusion that, despite events, Trump and Cruz would somehow combine and take on the GOP-e; helpful old Neil Bush drove the final nail into that particular coffin full of illusions. There's no prying the lid off as of today.
