Why Donald Trump Is Poised To Win The Nomination And Lose The General Election, In One Poll By Philip Bump March 23

Not to get too far ahead of ourselves, but a new poll from Quinnipiac University suggests that the most likely outcome of this presidential race is the following: Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump face off in the general election, and Hillary Clinton wins. Standard polling caveats apply, not the least of which is that the campaign hasn't started and that polls taken well in advance of an actual election are often not predictive. But reading this poll on this day with these numbers? That's the logical conclusion.

Sweet Jeus, I hope you're wrong, because I will not vote for Jeb. I'll write in Trump.

Trump’s poll numbers have been steadily going up. He hasn’t started going after Clinton yet.

If this were really true the compost would keep it to itself.

You need to suspend your account on FR and stop posting your drivel and your nonsensical defense of said drivel.

We don’t have a national election by popular vote. Our voting is done by state, i.e. the Electoral College.

When an honest poll reflects how our election is held, I’ll consider it. Until then, this nonsense is created for only one purpose, and that is to persuade voters to vote the way the “elites” desire.

Cruz can’t beat Trump but he can beat Hillary, which Trump cannot do. Go figure.

Lets go over this again. Thats because they are polling TWO DIFFERENT GROUPS, Republicans and people in general.. Jeeze, how many times does this need to be explained.

These polls are VERY likely to be a good snapshot of the population AT THIS TIME. Will those hold out for the future? I seriously doubt it. I wont claim that Trump will defeat Hillary handily, but I can see Trump defeating her by a bit in the general. Thats my hope anyways!

Maybe it will be Bush/Cruz which should make the Cruzbots happy.

Trump will not be the nominee. He cannot win over 50% in any caucus or primary.

Let’s pray he’s not the nominee for he would lose to Hillary.

Trumpkins behave like the proverbial monkeys: See No Evil; Speak No Evil; Hear No Evil of their Dear Leader.
When Trump crashes and burns in the general election, they will lay the blame on everyone else except their support for the Dear Leader.

Yeah, because polling hasn’t improved since 1980..... Like I told someone else in another thread, do you have any other example like this in any other Prez election? I’m all ears, seriously.

Maybe it's really because Cruz CAN'T beat Hillary.

Plurality math in a primary and general election math are two different things, involving two very different electorates. I think you know that but prefer to bury your head in the sand.

Exactly-a liar or an a-hole are the 2 choices and a no-brainer for most ‘normal’ people. My family are die-hard Catholic social justice seeking Libs and most of them despise Hillary, but wouldn’t vote for a Republican if the Lord Himself were the candidate.

They actually think that Trump should be arrested for “inciting violence” because he said something about punching someone- I don’t recall what he said - and it was HIS fault that there was violence at his last event; his rhetoric caused people to get violent, so he’s the one that should be arrested! I said that we have freedom of speech here so he can say what he wants and they said “no-he can’t, he doesn’t have the freedom to use his speeches to create violence”. So I asked why then are thousands of protesters allowed to shut down a highway, which affected innocent people and was dangerous? They said that “they had the police monitoring them just in case and they weren’t dangerous. But, what Trump did “was like yelling fire in a crowded theatre and that’s against the law, so he should be arrested”— oi vey!

Liberalism is really a mental disease....it’s like they are born without common sense, blinding their mind’s eye ....

When a candidate is focused on winning the nomination and hasn't really started to focus on his opponent, it's a bit premature to say he can't beat her. I think I'll stay tuned for a while and see what happens. If Cruz gets the nomination, (and right now thats a BIG if), I'll support him but I really think he is being used by the GOPe. When they are done with him, they will install their candidate. ( Probably Ryan)

That's the whole problem.

Cruz supporters don't realize that if they think that the MSM has been "mean" to Trump, they will go nuclear on Cruz.

He will be as hated as Santorum.

We have to face the fact that the MSM hates conservatives. Period.

Only someone like Trump will throw the feces back at the MSM.

Again, I don't like it, but them's the facts.

And I think Cruz would be ultimate as POTUS.

He reminds me of Grover Cleveland.

Yes, I know Cleveland was a democrat.

But he reviewed bills before him, and if he felt they were unconstitutional he would veto.

If Cruz wins the nom fair and square, I'll support him.

Without question.

What makes you think I’m voting for Trump, little rabbit? I’m specifically addressing your incessant, whining, non-stop, stupid, brainless attacks using crap from 50 IQ commie apes at the Washington Post. That’s. All. You. Do.

So, are you a paid Soros or Rove troll, little bunny?
