An op-ed penned this month by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and published online appears to be blatantly plagiarized from an article written days earlier under former rival Ben Carsons name, The Daily Caller has determined.
The similar op-eds were written on the topic of Americas territories and commonwealths.
Both pieces appear under the by-lines of the candidates. Carsons piece, published Feb. 26, was published in the Marianas Variety in the Northern Mariana Islands.
Trumps op-ed published in the Pacific Daily News in Guam, part of the USA Today Network was published 12 days later on March 9.

I think it’s best to pick a key word from the title, and search for that under the title listing.
If someone makes one mistake in the whole title, the search will miss it.
I appreciate the nice response.
Take care.
Calm down, girl.
Well cheer up Sore Cruzerman is a curable affliction. :-)
You are probably right.
Do you recall though when a writer (can't think of his name) was caught plagiarizing and how the Freepers went all bonkers thinking the guy should be basically strung up?
Yeah, it’s kinda fun to see the zombies twist and turn.
By the way, I hope Trump promised Ben Carson something really good and, most of all, I hope he got it in writing notarized by seven attorneys.
Oh, please. Desperate much? Are you aware that Carson endorsed Trump?
Plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery and criminal behavior.
Yes, Ben should remember he was doing well and leading in Iowa until ...
A few months ago, when Donald Trump referred to Carson as pathological and compared him to a child molester, Carson had nothing to say. He was completely impotent. And in fact, his numbers tanked shortly thereafter.
But, oh, well, Ben.
Sooooo because Biden did it, it’s okay.
Didn’t realize Biden was our role model.
Trump steals term papers. Cruz steals delegates.
Why are you on here frantically defending Trump if this was nothing special?
Carson who dropped his GOP bid earlier this month and endorsed Trump last week brushed off the plagiarism accusation, suggesting that Trumps op-ed may have been written by one of his former staffers.
I would say that many of the people that worked for me previously are now working for Donald Trump, so that doesnt surprise me at all, Carson told CNNs Erin Burnett on Wednesday.
So, in other words, it could be a direct copy, but it wouldnt be plagiarism because it could be somebody who actually wrote the first one writing the second one? Burnett asked.
Let me put it this way, Carson said. It doesnt bother me at all.

Yes, I have known a lot of real men and they do not think or talk that way.
That’s aging frat boy talk. And your man, Trump, is a way aging frat boy.

i'm saying the evidence of who published first is not relevant.

“Yes, I have known a lot of real men and they do not think or talk that way.”
I believe that you think that to be true.
You must be a woman.
“Why are you on here frantically defending Trump if this was nothing special?”
There’s nothing frantic about my posts. It probably just seems that way because of the high rate of fire.
That said, your question doesn’t make sense.
Why would it be odd to contradict people who are trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill—or, more accurately, out of nothing?
Does this bother anyone?
An op-ed penned this month by Democrat Presidential candidate, Barack Obama and published online appears to be blatantly plagiarized from an article written days earlier under former rival Hillary Clinton’s name.
The “Daily Caller” isn’t even MSM .. it’s GOPe. It’s conservative Washington’s answer to the leftist Daily Beast.
