An op-ed penned this month by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and published online appears to be blatantly plagiarized from an article written days earlier under former rival Ben Carsons name, The Daily Caller has determined.
The similar op-eds were written on the topic of Americas territories and commonwealths.
Both pieces appear under the by-lines of the candidates. Carsons piece, published Feb. 26, was published in the Marianas Variety in the Northern Mariana Islands.
Trumps op-ed published in the Pacific Daily News in Guam, part of the USA Today Network was published 12 days later on March 9.

I don’t find anything nefarious involved. Just politics as usual that this candidate supposedly isn’t about.
I wish people would stop attacking fellow freepers by calling them names like cruz-bots or trumpets. I know I have been guilty of the trumpet or trumptsters thing, but I am trying to refrain. It isn’t helpful.
Real men don’t refer to women as a ‘nice piece of a**.’
Real men don’t jump out of their skin when a 90 year old man moves in his chair.
"Or maybe Carson loaned him the same staffer who wrote it for him?"
Did you even bother to read the articles?
Trump's plagiarized op-ed was published 2 days before Carson endorsed him. Carson never says he gave Trump permission, he just says he doesn't care if Trump used his words.
Like I said if it was anyone else there would be heck to pay.
Not nefarious but shows a lack of character. Why did he do this? Because he knew he could?
Why not write something from his own heart of just quote Ben outright and say, ‘my friend, Ben, wrote this and I agree 100%.’
So?
Do da name “Biden” mean anythin’ to ya,Daily Caller?
Don’t remember seeing anything about VICE PRESIDENT Idiot lately.
So, why not STFU?
How true!
“Why didnt Trump get one of those great people hes gonna hire to change it enough so that it wasnt so obviously plagiarized?”
Why do you even give a crap? This is an op-ed in a newspaper, not something like Martin Luther King’s doctoral thesis.
Could be indeed. For Cruz, that issue got owned and/or co-opted by Trump. For the general population, Trump owns the illegal immigration/build a wall position.
I like Cruz too, but as the #2 choice, which if Cruz really thinks about it, would be the best place for him right now.
He’s got so many more election cycles where he’s viable, a VP for 4 or 8 years would put him in a great spot, imo.
You do know Biden withdrew from the Presidential race within a month of being exposed of his plagiarism scandal, right?
If Carson has announced publically that he does not care if Trump uses his words...then there is no story here.
Who knows when Carson originally gave that approval? Maybe he did so when they met for the endorsement.
Carson’s own words about the matter suck the story right out of it.
“Real men dont refer to women as a nice piece of a**.”
Are you a man?
Are you a heterosexual?
Have you ever associated with real men?
Of course men think that, and to say it is more than common in America.
If you really think this is terrible, then I think you need to check in to your nearest feminism detox center.
Search again, I’ve seen it three times...
I did search and put the exact title words into the search bar and selected title, and nothing came up. I see now it is coming up. Sorry!
Exact same.
“Real men dont jump out of their skin when a 90 year old man moves in his chair.”
I am alive only because sudden movements in the periphery of my vision make me jump.
If you laugh at things like that, then I can only think you have never known the feeling you get between the time somebody aims at you and the time the weapon discharges.
Is that all you got?
Dr. Carson threw his hat in the ring, and came out on the short end. So it goes.
Trump recognized the real value that Dr. Carson can provide to an administration and extended an olive branch to him. These are the good guys, stop trying to tear them down.
And if you want to talk about “real men,” let me tell you a “real man” joke from the time before feminism metastasized.
Q. How does a real man know when he has satisfied a woman?
A. A real man doesn’t care.
I don't recall saying it was your opinion.
Yes Carson and his staff are working with him NOW, but I didn't see where Carson said they were working for him before Carson endorsed him.
Like I pointed out Trumps article appeared March 9th and Carson didn't endorse until March 11.
