An op-ed penned this month by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and published online appears to be blatantly plagiarized from an article written days earlier under former rival Ben Carsons name, The Daily Caller has determined.
The similar op-eds were written on the topic of Americas territories and commonwealths.
Both pieces appear under the by-lines of the candidates. Carsons piece, published Feb. 26, was published in the Marianas Variety in the Northern Mariana Islands.
Trumps op-ed published in the Pacific Daily News in Guam, part of the USA Today Network was published 12 days later on March 9.

FWIW, publish dates are not submission dates and submission dates are not original dates written.
>>Dr Carson stated his staff is now working with Trump so it was not really plagiarism - Trump is pushing Dr Carsons message is what is happening.
Exactly... I’m a Cruz supporter but this type of Trump bashing is just stupid. Ignoring the obvious (insert facepalm)
were words plagiarized or ideas??
Words may be legally protected.
Ideas may be shared.
They are working together in this election...Dr Carson endorsed Trump. LOL, this election is getting so ridiculous. Here we have a guy who has won less than 25% of the primaries pretending he is actually winning and another guy who has won one primary who blatantly speaks of stealing the nomination! Then there is the people’s choice Donald Trump, fearlessly plodding forward overcoming every adversary in his way. Indeed, Mika from Scarborough today said she would like to Trump congress (she is angry with them) and would like to say “Trump you!” to them. Her first thought for a hero against the wiles and dishonesty of Washington was releasing Trump on them! It just doesn’t get any better than this.
Ben Carson didn't endorse Trump until March 11, and Trump published the article on March 9th.
Now there might have been some secret dealing going on long before that.
except he probably said it with a little more energy.
OMG — I bet Trump doesn’t always come to a complete stop at a STOP sign — before proceeding thru an intersection!!!!!
Trump Appears To Have Heavily Plagiarized Op-Ed From Carson

Search is your friend...
They are just bitter runts at this point.
No more soaring rhetoric, just snark, snobbery, and anger.
Is this the same Ben Carson who whined from coast to coast about what Ted Cruz supposedly did to him?
Hate is a strong word. I don't hate, but I do dislike.
Ok that’s it. Communism please. /s
Spunky, go ahead and file criminal charges then
Get it off your chest
Also, it is clear the alliance happened earlier than the endorsement. Staffers need to be paid and probably jumped ship earlier which would have been a great favor to Dr. Carson (seeing his staff still had a job, etc).
Submit to the Trump, all else is futility and ridiculousness.

I did a Title search using the title of the article and NOTHING came up.
The Saipan Tribune, a local news outlet in the Northern Mariana Islands, reported that a local Republican named Jason Osborne, who worked for Carson before joining Trumps team, was involved in crafting the op-ed.
Plagiarizing ideas, when you accept those ideas, isnt plagiarism, its just flattery, Osborne told the outlet.

My top choice is Ted Cruz, but this is a non-issue. Someone wrote that article for Trump, Trump reviewed it without being told of the plagiarism, and the copying, if any, does not reflect on Trump’s fitness for office. I hope he will delegate minor tasks while in Office. I also hope he will review the details, but that will not catch plagiarism of good ideas.
So you are saying Carson plagiarized Trump?
