VIDEO UNEARTHED=> Pastor Calls for Execution of Gays – Then Introduces Ted Cruz at Conference
GP ^ | 03/14/16 | Jim Hoft

In November Senator Ted Cruz appeared at the National Religious Liberties Conference in Iowa, where he courted the support of the conference’s organizer, Colorado-based pastor and radio host Kevin Swanson.

Cruz was introduced on the stage by Pastor Kevin Swanson – after he called for the execution of gays at the conference.

Kevin Swanson: Yes, Romans Chapter 1 verse 32 the Apostle Paul does says that homosexuals are worthy of death. His words not mine! And I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! And I am not ashamed of the truth of the word of God. And I am willing to go to jail…

Now my friends let me introduce to you the next candidate for the office of President of the United States, folks please make welcome Senator Ted Cruz.

That seems a bit extreme. No?

Ted’s father Rafael also spoke at the conference.

At the same conference Pastor Swanson begged God to forgive America for Harry Potter.

Great point! LOL!

Cruz should disavow multiple times too, and then be asked why he did not disavow it. LOL!

Except Trump did not attend any campaign event hosted by David Duke

I would expect cruz to issue a statement and follow the same advice to himself as he issued when the media tried to link Trump to the KKK, something about “ disavowing” a certain spectrum of a certain bloc of voters he has been aggressively courting

Literally, he is quoting a Bible verse that I posted above.

Nice follow up to the Drudge hit piece. The establishment must view Cruz as a legitimate threat.

Is that verse the only part of the Bible you would like Cruz to disavow or are there others?

In this case it would seem that in Cruz’s zeal to court “ evangelicals” his staff failed to differentiate among the spectrum and vet his campaign associations and step back from preachers who use liberal bible quotes to justify death for sexual practices

And His father spoke at that conference?

This stuff is the gold standard for dirty opposition research and it’s interesting it has already been released - what’s the GOPee game here anyway? Deny the nomination to both Trump and Cruz?

What you are advocating is a fallacy known as "Tu Quoque", and it means that wrongdoings by one party, make wrongdoings by another party acceptable.

You have it backwards. Read what I wrote.

I'm not saying that Cruz doing it makes Trump doing it acceptable.

I'm saying that if it's unacceptable for Trump to be connected to sleazy characters, then it is equally unacceptable for Cruz.

Did he in any way qualify the sentiment expressed in that verse?

Did he suggest that God should be the one to make the life-or-death decision, not mortal men?

Would he have quoted that verse if he didn’t agree with it 100%?

Here’s the Barnes commentary for the verse
Were worthy of death - The word “death” in the Scriptures is often used to denote punishment. But it does not mean here that these deserved capital punishment from the civil magistrate, but that they knew they were evil, and offensive to God, and deserving of punishment from his hand; see Joh_8:51; Rom_5:12-19.

If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

It was the event sponsor he should have vetted, Kevin Swanson ?

It’s correct that a candidate can’t control what every conference speaker says

Of course, you are correct. They will throw Cruz overboard at a brokered convention too. He’s just too blind to see it.

This video — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCRGyHQ7Mms — indicates that this “anti-gay” guy spoke *after* Cruz, the next *day*. How can Cruz (or the other speakers) be responsible for this guy’s speech?

Can Trump be condemned for appearing at events where others say goofy things?

Agreed. Note the change in. Swanson’s attire between the tirade and introducing Cruz.

Not even the same day.

Pure guilt be association, despicable.

Forget Ted Cruz and this campaign, what is your basis for saying Kevin Swanson is a nut? Is he a nut because he actually believes the Bible?

He just stated what it said.

If a doctor says “If you don’t lose weight, you will die early”, it doesn’t mean he is going to kill you.

The Bible also says
Rom_6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

It doesn’t mean that someone will execute you because you sin.

I'm saying that if it's unacceptable for Trump to be connected to sleazy characters, then it is equally unacceptable for Cruz.

In other words, there needs to be the same standard applied to everyone? No argument there.

However, I don't think a pastor quoting a bible verse makes him a "sleazy character." He may be a bit of a kook, but I think the man has been maligned in this hit piece.
