The University of Texas study says high glycemic diets raise the risk of lung cancer by 49 percent, even for people who never smoked. …

Does this apply to whole wheat, gluten-free, or multigrain bagels or just to white flour bagels?

William Davis wrote a book several years ago called "Wheat Belly." He pretty much took to task anything thing that contains any type of flour.

I think it’s scientists that increase your risk of cancer.

The leading cause of cancer in laboratory animals is laboratory technicians.

Catholicism can’t handle the critique so people must be silenced??

Only the methods have changed.

***The people way back then were lots more active than today. My mom died a few months before she was 103. She grew up eating food with lard and just about everything people say is wrong for you. There was one huge difference. She was very active until she was in her 90’s. She had a garden and loved to grow things. I did not inherit her green thumb. Then last year, one of her cousins died and she was either 107 or 109. One of my hobbies is genealogy and I was amazed at how many ancestors lived until they were in their 90’s.*** That probably has more to do with genetics than diet or activity. Some people either have it or don't. 😊

You sound like a nutty anti-any-Christian-who-isn’t-Catholic hate monger. You got it so bad you lay in wait for a chance to flash it. Over bagels???? Seriously?

The general population believes that since the AVERAGE age of people in days gone by was so low; that they didn't live very long.

Actuality is that CHILDHOOD was a VERY deadly time and many died before double digit ages; thus pulling the AVERAGE age down.

I thought you already put me on your “list”! You mean I might still have some verga-verified credibility left???

Sorry...you have a prejudiced OPINION based on disagreements in an internet forum only. Check your OWN hate level before you make judgments against others.

Well, I see you gave up playing chess with the pigeons. They must have been getting the best of you.

You call metmom a "bullying bigot". That's pretty strong language considering miss marmelstein told her to "go to hell".

You allege metmom's idea of a "fair fight" is seven people whom you describe as "anti-catholic", verses one catholic. Oh boo, hoo, hoo.

The catholic definition of "anti-catholic" is anyone who exposes the false teachings of catholicism.

So far, it's been my experience that the catholic, when challenged to support their belief with the Word cannot do so.

Hence they resort to name calling, changing the topic, looking for minor grammatical or spelling errors, etc to deflect from their position.

Is roman catholicism really so weak it cannot stand the light of scrutiny??

And all I said to her was that she was no fun! So smoke signals went out among the anti-Catholic camps on FR. (They never defend themselves alone, an interesting insight into their weird personalities.)

All we need is biblical spamming to complete the pix. Possibly a lesson to those people who hang out on bagel threads but not the noxious religions threads.

Sorry...you have a prejudiced OPINION based on disagreements in an internet forum only.

She has failed to apologize for false accusations. She does not document when asked to even though she demands it of others. She has repeated proven lies after being called on it repeatedly. It is an educated opinion based on the facts of her behavior that I have seen. She should have been gone in the last purge along with the lying demoncrat she supported.

Check your OWN hate level before you make judgments against others.P>Back attacha sista.

Wow...you've got a persecution complex to be sure.

Are we to assume that Verga, who I haven't see on the religion forum in a while, just showed up today on this discussion??

The same charge could be made against you.

See how this works?

If you go back to the start of when this lovely conversation started you will note metmom made a comment in post 42 about dropping bread from her diet with a subsequent reduction in weight. Instead of complimenting metmom on a smart diet choice you chime in by saying "no matter what thread you're on, you're no fun."

Then you made a sweeping statement that bagels have kept the Jews alive for 2000 years. Do you even know how long bagels, as we know them today, have been around?

Oh I have on occasion.

But usually I avoid interacting with the collection of rabid anti-Catholics, rabid anti-Protestants, rabid Calvinists, rabid anti-Calvinists, rabid dispensationalists, millenialists, amillenialists, premillenialists, postmillenialists, premidpost-tribulationists, rabid KingJimmy-is-the-only-inspired-Word-because-Moses, theprophets, the Psalmist, Jesus, and all the disciples spoke Elizabethian English-ists.. (not an inclusive list - I’m sure I left some -ist out ;-) because for the most part none of them are interested in a discussion of the differences. Instead they want to staple their own label on everyone else’s forehead. With a sledge. Continuously.

Entering such a fray tends to emulate the ‘Never try to teach a pig to sing’ scenario.

You know - it is a waste of your time and it annoys the pig.
