Is she getting an Academy Award for her tear-jerker performance before the jury, too?

Why?
This is ridiculous. Its offensive.
People get relatives killed, or maimed themselves and get less.

So she was offended and her feeling were hurt? Come on!

An amount thing north of 20,000 and less than 100,000 would have ben more than adequate.

We need tort reform!

Erin Andrews awarded $55 million in Marriott lawsuit

For someone taking naked pictures of her? That jury needs to go to jail.

They are effectively stealing someone else's money.

Andrews sued the hotel alleging it acted negligently when allowing a man who was stalking her to book the room next to hers and surreptitiously film nude videos of her in 2008 while she worked for ESPN.

How was the hotel supposed to know this guy was stalking her?

55 million...series???

How in the world can 55 million in damages be justified?

I am taking applications now for a person who will stalk my wife and take videos naked or otherwise at an expensive hotel chain... with the intent of suing them. It might involve a small amount of prison time, but if we can keep it on the down low... we will be glad to split part of the booty with you. She probably won’t be able to get as much as a young ESPN host, but after the lawyers take their cut of the millions, we should still have a few thousand to split.

For those who have never picked up a stalker, there are very few protections in the system for the victim.
Police refuse to do anything until someone is killed or injured.
There is no $$$ in it as they can’t impound cars and sell them.

Your entire life, friends, family, financial, retirement can all be exposed for theft and or damage.

Meanwhile, TSA keeps us safe from grandparents in wheelchairs.

When this is dramatically lowered on appeal the jurors should be on the hook to make up the difference. Jurors would be a lot less apt to steal from the “big corporation” if their own wallets were on the line with their judgment.

Seriously, the pics were not all that impressive. And definitely not worth $55 million.

She now has more money than the pro athletes she ...dates.

Another celebrity getting a celebrity ruling. Juries are (almost) invariably enamored with them.

$28 million from the creep that stalked her, got a video of her nude getting out of shower, and posted it on the Internet. He can’t pay that, but he should spend the rest of his life paying her every penny that can be extracted.

$27 million from the hotel chain. Probably too much, but seriously, in this day and age, what hotel chain gives out the room number of a celebrity and allows a stranger to request a room next to her? Through no fault of her own, her career trajectory has been permanently changed. To top it off, after the suit was filed, a hotel executive was apparently overhead at a public restaurant saying something to the effect of “if we’re going to get sued I’m going to get my money’s worth” and showing the videos on his cell phone.

If she wasn’t a well known broadcaster, no way would she have been awarded such a high amount. Yes, of course it was wrong to spy on her.
