Exactly. I might also point out that ideological, check-box doctrinaire conservative has been as much a failure as has its obverse on the liberal side. It makes sense, really - when your view of reality is shaped by an ideology, rather than the other way around, you’re always going to run into cases where your solutions end up being ineffective.

Doctrinaire open borders conservatism (”because it’s good for BID’NESS!”) has failed, and has only ended up hurting the middle class in this country. It’s time to try a little America First for a change.

In the end, I think Trump's advantage is that people (largely) know they've been conned into supporting Republican politicians who say one thing and do another and that the system is broken.

It is Trump's to lose.

How is Trump doing with young people (20-30 yo), compared to Cruz, Rubio, Clinton and Sanders? Do you think Trump can win in the general election?

From his rallies, it appears he has young people in tow.

Actual numbers?

I’m not sure.

It seems to me the figures have been all over the map on this.

Some see to say he does good and others seem to say not.

Interesting poll and analysis/charts. Thanks for sharing.

No one has ever accused SC of being brilliant :-)

General election? Yes.

I think it will be far more lopsided than folks think too.

Really amazing numbers.

The Libertarians is very telling of where support goes when their guy drops out.

Important note. SC is open primary, Trump WILL get some crossover too.

Matt Moore, Chairman of the SC Republican Party just said on CNN that Trump should get 35-40 of the vote tomorrow. The race is for second between Rubio and Cruz. We shall see.

It’s winner take all so 2nd is the same as last—it doesn’t matter.

I was looking at the News-Events listing and I found your voting thing. I read your directions and cast my ballot. It is still open to vote for today, I think I got it right, yes? Do you allow a secret ballot, or does everybody get to see how everybody votes? I’m a bit uncomfortable that everybody can see who I vote for, because I am new here and I read several posts, and there are a lot of people that get really mad over who somebody suppports. I don’t want people making fun of me like that. Can you do secret voting?

The biggest problem that I saw with it was it was grossly overweighted toward old folks. 55% over 65, 2/3 over 56. They must have run the poll in senior citizens facilities.

Probably based on historical turnout. Kids don't vote, they sleep in the basement.

Means they have answer calls from unknown numbers, are ticked off, and have time to voice their opinions. 5800 is a big poll. I bet Trump is behind it. Why else go the cheap way and robocall your poll. Bet it cost less than a lot of the 500 respondent polls. Even though it is weighted older, Trump wins no matter what.

The consistency across all demo groups and all parts of the state are truly amazing. (Too bad income and education levels were not included in this survey, though other surveys have shown the levels of support for the candidates was the same as the other demo groups.)

“They must have run the poll in senior citizens facilities.”

Could be because it was a telephone survey.

Yes, but if you look at the pie charts for other internals, Trump is leading in every other age group almost as well as he is among seniors. Changing the weighting by age doesn’t change that Trump is a runaway winner in this poll.

But, of course, we’ll see how it plays out at voting booth.

Open Primary!

Those who would be happy if either Sanders (socialism heavy) or Clinton (Socialism lite), can vote their choice for Republican nominee.
