Polls: Cruz Would Fare 5 Points Better Versus Clinton Than Trump Would
Weekly Standard ^ | 2/11/2016 | Jeffrey H. Anderson

Among the two candidates whose results look at all like those of an eventual GOP presidential nominee, polling suggests that Ted Cruz would do significantly better than Donald Trump in the general election. According to the Real Clear Politics average of recent polls, Cruz would fare 5 points better versus Hillary Clinton than Trump would.

Polling has consistently shown Cruz to have an advantage over Trump in this regard: Fox News found that Cruz would fare 4 points better than Trump, beating Clinton by 7 points (50 to 43 percent) to Trump's 3 (47 to 44 percent). NBC News and the Wall Street Journal found that Cruz would fare 6 points better than Trump, losing to Clinton by 4 points (49 to 45 percent) to Trump's 10 (51 to 41 percent). And Quinnipiac found that Cruz would fare 5 points better than Trump, tying Clinton (at 45 percent apiece) while Trump would lose by 5 points (46 to 41 percent).

In all, RCP's average finds that Cruz would beat Clinton by 1 point (47 to 46 percent), while Trump would lose by 4 points (47 to 43 percent).

Trump hasn’t said how he is going to revive the economy. Is he going to do it with the tax plan that puts us into more debt, the one that Elizabeth Warren likes?

...Any celebrity can fill an auditorium.

Makes sense.  But wait: Trump is not singing and he's not playing the guitar.  So why would people stand 2 hours in line in the cold to hear him?

Are they coming to hear Trump explain the finer points of skyscraper construction?

I think this is BS disinformation. If Trump can get 20% of the blacks and 40% of the Hispanics, I don’t see a rat winning, period...

BTW, no other contender can do this.

Nope, I had nothing to do with it. I didn't get a vote, did you?

Let me put it in words that, hopefully, you won't be able to weasel your way out of answering again:

Did you think, at the time, that Roberts was a good, conservative pick?

And, again, can you name one well known, respected conservative that did not think he was a good, conservative pick at the time?

such nonsense and tomfoolery over a nut who decided last year he wanted to play president and change almost every value overnight.

And yet so many on FR want to throw the conservative who refused to join the "old boys club" in DC and stuck to his conservative principals under the bus. I'm with Cruz. He's the only one who's always been for me.

I guess this is one of those polls that the Cruzers believe.

One has a sister and ONE did put a left of center on the scotus. Don’t have to get you there.

Pretty good trick considering the average Democrat has no idea who Cruz is.

Odds are Hillary triumphs in November, no matter who the GOP nominates. Nothing to lose.

Let me put this to you in a way that I hope YOU understand - I wasn’t paying attention at the time, so, I had no say one way or the other. The Senate confirms the SC justices, and we the people, as usual, have no say so in it. Stop trying to weasel your way out of Cruz’s poor choice.

“One has a sister and ONE did put a left of center on the scotus.”

And one has a history of left wing stances, which you support getting to put 3, maybe 4 justices on the Supreme Court.

Yeah, those Cruz polls of 11% and crowds of 200 are indicative of a national groundswell.

...Cruz can't even beat Trump in any national polls and in very few state polls.   That's why I find him beating Clinton a bit suspect.

Yes, and if the Cruzers are right -- that Trump is not conservative -- then Cruz vs. Trump is comparable to Cruz vs. Hillary.

Make sense?

Cruz’s crowd today at Bob’s Big Boy Tire Emporium was at least 35 guys, its a national movement!

You are making his point for him - GWB had ALL of the say, not Cruz.

Thank you for pointing out who actually picks the SCOTUS nominee.

It's becoming clearer everyday that Trump supporters don't care what he believes in, or would actually do, or even if he can beat the Rat candidate. It's all about over throwing the entrenched powers in DC and anybody who stands in their way is bad. Reality be damned.

It wasn’t uncomfortable at all - I didn’t pay attention at the time, and even if I did - I had no say so, neither did you. Stop trying to play gotcha with me - it isn’t working. Go back under your bridge - it’s missing it’s troll.
