In his latest unfounded attack on Ted Cruz, Donald Trump now accuses Ted Cruz of supporting amnesty for illegal aliens, as Trump himself did for many years.
Ted Cruz tried to derail Marco Rubio's "Gang of 8" amnesty bill by altering the "path to citizenship" to mere legalization status, not because he supported legalization for illegals, but rather because he wanted to make the bill unpalatable to Democrats.
Senator Jeff Sessions, who was the lead opponent of this legislation, supports this interpretation, saying Cruz was "with him every step of the way on fighting the amnesty bill". So agrees Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh, and most leading conservative voices. So if if Donald Trump is right, all the leading voices of the conservative movement must be wrong. At a certain point you have to start wondering who is really a constitutional conservative, and who is not.
Trump also repeated the false claim that he's been calling for a border wall for five years. In fact, Ted Cruz was the one calling for it several years ago, not Donald Trump. And if you look back four years, Trump was criticizing Mitt Romney's self deportation plan for illegals, calling it "mean-spirited", and as recently as this past June was still calling for a path to citizenship for illegal aliens.
In fact, by saying that he will deport illegals but invite a lot of them back in, Trump still effectively supports legalization for millions of illegal aliens in the United States. Just listen to his own words:
"I think we should let them come back if they are very good people, let them come back legally, I want them to come back. I'm building a wall but I want immigrants to come in... and I want a lot of people to come in."
Donald Trump loses credibility when he claims Ted Cruz supports amnesty when he himself, for most of his adult life, has supported amnesty for illegal aliens. It shows he will say anything to get elected. It becomes particularly egregious when he accuses others of things that he himself is guilty of.
We need a true conservative to be elected President. That isn't Donald Trump.
+1
I am so glad other people are seeing it. I was starting to think everyone other than me was a mouth breathing slobbering moron, or I had gone nuckin futz.
Trump thinks so far ahead most people canât figure out what heâs doing. Heâs both a tactical and strategic thinker. I havenât ever seen a candidate as good at that as Trump. Look at how Hillary got smoked when bringing up “penchant for sexism”, and the tactical battle isnât over yet. It went the way it did because of the strategic thinking skills used before the tactical battle took place. Trump had it all thought through - it was not knee jerk spur of the moment reaction.

We are so used to knee jerk action - that never makes sense. In fact a lot of people paralyze themselves with “correctness” to the point of using virtually no strategic thinking - so much so it’s not even recognized where it exists. I’ve seen so many management people say what they think their boss wants to hear instead of strategic and tactical analysis and options based on an objective truth, complete dataset.
Here’s another example of Trump in strategic thinking mode;

Beginning his campaign with a gruff, aggressive style, Trump has set himself up for a classic redemption arc as he grows in statesmanship.
Everyone paying attention knows your post is completely False. I don’t worry about what the wrestling fans think.
When Cruz finally decides to lay the conservative smackdown on Trump, it’s going to be epic.
Marco Rubio was spreading this same nonsense a few weeks ago.
Here are the facts of #Trumps prior position IN WRITING: Trump from “The America We Deserve”, 2000 He has always been pro enforcement/anti INVASION!
IMMIGRATION- PROTECTING OUR OWN There’s another area of foreign affairs that doesn’t get talked about very much, but it is a huge issue: Immigration. America is experiencing serious social and economic difficulty with illegal immigrants who are flooding across our borders. Five million illegals live in this country.
Two million of them live in California. Seven hundred thousand undocumented immigrants live in Texas. We simply can’t absorb them. It is a scandal when America cannot control its own borders.
A liberal policy of immigration may seem to reflect confidence and generosity. But our current laxness toward illegal immigration shows a recklessness and disregard for those who live here legally.

Trump from “Time to Get Tough: Making America #1 Again,” 2011
Illegal immigration is a wrecking ball aimed at U.S. taxpayers. Washington needs to get tough and fight for “We the People,” not for the special interests who want cheap labor and a minority voting bloc. Every year taxpayers are getting stuck with a $113 billion bill to pay for the costs of illegal immigration.2 That’s a bill we can’t afford and wouldn’t have to pay if people in Washington did their jobs and upheld our nation’s laws.

Senator Sessions helped Ted craft his immigration policy and they just worked together on an American Workers First Act. Cruz has said Sessions would definitely be involved in his administration. I think he might select him as VP.
It could possibly begin Thursday night in the Fox Business debate. No way are they not going to bring up the citizenship issue.
Donald Trump did more in a week than all of us was ever able to accomplish on immigration.
Know why? He is a great listener!
Evidently the ONLY one in politics today, other than Jeff Sessions, willing to put his ASS on the line to tell you the truth!
He LISTENS...and evidently he listened in 2004, during the debates of the presidential race when Bob Shieffer of CBS stated that the most questions he got from the PUBLIC to ask the candidates was about.....
â¨IMMIGRATION!
2004!
THAT is how long we have all been ignored, until Donald Trump!
SCHIEFFER: Let’s go to a new question, Mr. President.â¨I got more e-mail this week on this question than any other question. And it is about immigration.
(PS....if you really want to see what LYING PUKES both Bush and Kerry are, take a look at their answers in that debate to the ONE immigration question!

Cruz in his own words on immigration Short version
Cruz in his own words on immigration Long version
“That poison pill exposed that the Democrats were supporting amnesty, and nothing less.”
And WHO didn’t know that?? NO ONE! Cruz pushed his ‘poison pill’ all over the place. That’s just another phony excuse, like not knowing he had Canadian citizenship.
“When Cruz finally decides to lay the conser........”
Who? It’s going to take name recognition and executive experience to win this and the ability to attract independents. Cruz can’t do it.
I can't envision Cruz choosing Sessions. Do you have insider information? Cruz would have a tough time of it, winning enough states. My concern is that Cruz might choose someone northern or Midwestern (Christie, Kasich, Walker etc) in a feeble attempt to get some of those states. Cruz does seem to be very big on brilliant strategies (that don't often work, so it seems ie: TAP)
Trump? He already has a shot at New England, NY, NJ, PA, OH etc
I actually agree with Trump?Cruz ticket but only after Cruz dispels the legal issue by initiating a declaratory judgment. Southwester Trump won’t take him .
There is a good book on Dwight Eisenhower called “The Hidden Hand Presidency”. Ike would sometimes make somewhat clumsy comments and the press began characterizing Eisenhower as a bumbling dummy.
Now this was the same Eisenhower who had been the Supreme Allied Commander of the allied war in Europe, and one thing for certain is that Ike was no dope. But he let the press think that he was, and while everyone focused on this bumbling image Ike had luxury of maneuvering at will behind the scenes. Trump is employing a similar tactic.
Trump called Mitt Romney’s illegals plan mean spirited. How left wing do you have to be if you are to the left of Mitt Romney?
Lord, isn’t it the truth! Can’t believe how many folks are being fooled.
I wasn’t sure if you were familiar with this comparison of Cruz’s evolving thoughts on birthright citizenship.
