Charles Butt, the Texas billionaire magnate behind the H-E-B supermarket chain which forbid the open carry of firearms law that went into effect January 1, 2016, opposes school choice, funds anti-school choice lobbyists, and is even credited for his role in killing a 2011 state bill banning âsanctuary cities.â
Butt is the 2015 fourth richest Texan and Forbesâ 44th wealthiest person in America with a net worth of $10.7 billion known for funneling hard earned assets into educational lobby groups that fight school choice, although the 77-year-old grocer received a private Ivy League college education that included an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvaniaâs prestigious Wharton School and a masterâs in business administration from Harvard. Texas Watchdog stated Butt believes that private competition âundermines government schools.â

There is an H.E.B. a few miles from my house. I went there only one time. What a mistake that was!
Trashy food and trashy people.
Of course, any smart businessman will pay the “protection “ money to whatever politician is in a position to hurt or help him. It’s the cost of doing business and it’s tax deductible.
In the case of Butt he also donates to liberal causes.
Oh, yeah...y’all are all United aren’t you?....and what used to be Albertsons.
Donates to either party. But they always want something in return. There are plenty of wealthy business people that do this.
...
I don’t think they have much of a choice if they want to be treated fairly.
United is by far the largest, but there are a few others that provide competition. Recently, Albertsons bought United, but all the United stores retain the name and pre-sale appearance.
HEB also owns and runs the wildly popular Central Market chain. Time to boycott that too.
We don’t have any of those either.
None to boycott
Didn’t they used to be Piggly Wiggly?
Apparently HEB has always been libtards
Nice to know. Thanks.
Well, I’ll keep my butt outta this Butt-holes store from now on......get the same things cheaper at a Kroger superstore anyway.
wow.
I go to the Italian deli up the block :)
Ahhhhh.....just what we need! Another wealthy elitist who seeks to tell us little people “do as I say, not as I do”
Screw this A hole.
Our Albrertsons here have become upgraded, remodeled and renamed Albertsons Market [or something like that].
All I know is that I can’t find anything anymore.LOL!
No I think that’s a totally different “hogg”. :)
HEB is a Texas-owned supermarket. I don’t like shopping there anyway, but I have been to the Central Market a couple of times in Ft. Worth, and it was really cool.
My hubby does the shopping and he goes to Albertsons. :)
Pity that Handy Andy is no longer a local option to give HEB some more competition.
Can’t do it. I like H.E.B.
