Marjorie Lord, best known for playing Kathy âClancyâ Williams opposite Danny Thomas on the 1950s and 60s sitcom Make Room For Daddy and later the revival Make Room For Granddaddy died November 28 from natural causes, the LA Times reported. She was 97.
Lord made the jump to television in the 1950s and would join Make Room For Daddy, later renamed The Danny Thomas Show, during the showâs fourth season, in 1957. She played the second wife of Danny Thomasâ character, staying with the show until it was canceled in 1964. She returned along with the rest of the cast for Make Room For Granddaddy, which aired in 1970 and 1971.
She was married three times: to John Archer from 1941â1955, Randolph Hale from 1958â1974, and Harry Volk from 1976 until his death in 2000. Among her survivors is her daughter, Oscar-nominated actress Anne Archer. She also published her memoir, A Dance and a Hug, in 2004.

Classy lady.
Ninety seven years - that’s a good run. RIP ...
Classy lady from a classy American generation.
Lived a good long life.
RIP and God bless...
Not too many women on the scene today would qualify as “classy ladies”. I suppose a big reason for that is that they do not WANT to be classy ladies. They’d rather be feminists.
RIP
Rusty's stepmother.
I miss Uncle Tonoose!
Season 1, Episode 2: "The Party Dress"
Not only was she classy but also Danny Thomas was classy too. His night club act was “G” rated and hilarious. He is a founder of the children’s hospital in Memphis and was an over all gentleman.
“They’d rather be feminists.”
They want to be able to diddle with whoever they want, get pregnant and kill the child because he or she is an inconvenience.
And they want the rest of us to foot the bill.
Real ladies are in short supply.
Lord associated with classy people like herself, Thomas, the writers, cast and crew, surrounded by real talent, honest values, real compassion and charity.
Danny called her “Red” as well as “Clancy.” Fun show. She was very pretty. Jean Hagan, I think, played the first wife.
That whole generation had class. Their dress, their manners, their Patriotism, their... everyday AMERICANISM... was simply wonderful.
It’s lacking these days. Dramatically.
Absolutely, Thomas was the American ideal in Family, friends, character, and immigration.
That means she was born in 1918. She is missed. I remember that show & others with a family setting.
Geez, how time goes by. I was in high school when setting the wayback machine to 100 years would take you back to the middle of the Civil War!
Now that barely makes it to WWI.
I always considered her as being in the top 5 of the most beautiful women ever on TV. Just a stunner.
Uncle Tonoose... “STRONG LIKE BULL”!
FYI Both Dr Carson and the Trump families are friends of the Thomas family and are philantropic contributors to St Jude. It is the primary recipient of the Eric Trump Foundation.
St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, that was. Because a young Danny Thomas prayed that he would if he achieved success in show business. A man of his word, who helped and saved untold thousands of kids.
