ISIS Surrenders in face of Climate Change Conference

Raqqa, Syria

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.

"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."

An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.

Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."

According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.

"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."

So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."

72, 21%, SW @13, clear. Br-r-r-r!

Dang! I hate being cold!

The walk was good, but I found an entire flock (maybe 40) of pigeons that are obviously being fed by someone, on the extreme southeast corner of the property. Not good.

I will let management know.

Clear and windy, now, and “cool.” Next week, we will get some of the heat from The Valley of the Sun, peaking at 113+.

Today is cool enough to wear a heavy shirt out (at least for me) as the wind is going to be blowing all day. Again.

People here get pretty testy when the wind blows for days. Everything they touch will make a spark, and they get ugly and terse. At least it doesn’t last long.

I’m not a bit surprised. You have the humidity there, too, from the orchards and cotton fields, which we don’t have here.

I like the heat, but not the humidity! Stay cool — swim and enjoy it!

We haz rains. “Rain will continue for the next 90 minutes” saith the notallwaysAccurateWeather app on my smortphome.

That means the grandchillen are indoors.

Taking odds as to which happens first - rain abatement or serious corporeal damage to assorted offspring of Son #1..

Ohyes. I forgot what it’s like to have really short people underfoot during a thunderboomer. You have my deepest sympathy.

I also note that radar indicates that it is raining in or in the vicinity of Bugtussle. Haven’t heard much from that location of late.. ;-)

I’m sure the really short people will clean up their act(s) when Grandpa takes of his shoe (or belt) or picks up the brickbat with threatening noises in their general direction.

I’m getting sleepy, and that’s not a good sign. I need some coughie. I think.

Well - the rainstuff has fled across the border into NJ and the sunorb is again glowing from the sky. The small ones have rescued themselves from the scheduled session of advanced behavior modification instruction by fleeing to the outside side of the house from whence they will most likely return coated in advanced mud substitute.

And Mrs. NoC is now strongly suggesting that I venture forth to purchase five pounds of real hot dogs from the meatpacking people down in Sussex County.

Real hot dogs do not contain mechanically separated chicken or turkey, they contain pig and cow, if you were asking.. ;-)

Wonder what the grandkids would do with scrapple..

They'd eat it, if you don't tell them what it is.

Happy tomorrow. I did the kitteh, but I forgot my lunch. Bill had to bring it to me. “All the way to camp?” “Yeah, Bill, you’re in a car ...”.

Then we came back without Sally’s swimming things. She gave them to Frank to carry, like a fool. Frank would lose his ears if they weren’t glued on.

I can’t sleep this weekend: I’m meeting several of the elderly Puerto Rican church ladies at the church at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday morning to take them to a Spanish religious conference. The Mass starts at 7:30, of all things. Hispanics getting to anything that early? It is to laugh.

In the afternoon there’s a concert by Martin Valverde, one of the most popular Christian pop performers in Latin America (and a cute little nerdy guy with a great sense of humor). We should be home by 7:00.
