Raqqa, Syria
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.
"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."
An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.
Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."
According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.
"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."
So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."
The checks for the boys’ tuition came, too. It’s an all around Win day for mail delivery!
Tom the Son is home. He wants to go to Mass at the high school at 4:15, but Bill won’t be home from work until 4:30, so I’ll have to drive Tom. Oh, well.
Sally and the byos are making a gingerbread house.
Well, not exactly a win, but a close second! I got a Christmas letter from my son, (I LOATHE those things) and that was it. And I noticed his wife’s name was very prominent throughout.
My son has been married three times, and I have always gotten along with his wives, and allowed them the space to make their own decisions and mistakes. This wife, however, tests my patience, and has, right from the get-go. She is devious and dishonest, and I don’t like that from anyone.
He wasn’t married to her three months before she called me and asked me if I were insured, because she didn’t want them to “be stuck with your funeral and burial expenses.”
I had a bad feeling when he called one weekend right after I had met her. They had gone to breakfast and he says, “She wants to talk to you.” The first thing out of her mouth was, “We’re getting married.” What? Since when is it YOUR job to tell HIS mother?
Anyway, enough of that. I wish the letter would have come on Saturday instead of today! LOL!
Oh, well. I don’t get many Christmas letters. One from my uncle, one from a local friend (hers didn’t include the gory details we exchange by email ;-), and I expect one from my Dad’s remaining cousin.
Mom has my brother and his wife visiting. She said they went to the movies, and tonight they may drive around and see the lights.
I’m glad Tom is home.
The last time I went to AR to visit my son, I made a gingerbread house. It was fun! I had to sit at the table to do it, but it was still fun!
Off topic, but...I went in the bedroom for a breathing treatment around 0900, and moved the shirt I had worn to bed so I could sit down. It was still wet from the night sweats, and I got up a little before 0500... *sigh*
The sun is shining, but the wind is blowing and it’s chilly.
56 and the wind SSE @ 7 mph. No wind chill factor at that temp.
I had some back spasms earlier, but since I had already taken a morphine, they weren’t too bad. It seems they happen mostly in the mornings, and I don’t know wassupwithat. ;o|
Well, it’s perilously close to the point in time where I exit work and head for home. The girls are coming over tonight, then again tomorrow, so I probably won’t be back until the 26th at the earliest.
So, Merry Christmas to all.
He left eternity and stepped into time.
He left infinity and stepped into space.
He left omniscience and stepped into perspective.
And all so we could make the return journey and be with Him forever.
“See” you on the 26th.
That’s beautiful, ArGee. Thanks. And Merry Christmas to you and your family! <3
(I appreciate you!)
‘Face
We’re all alone until the next Shift!
Merry Christmas, ArGee!
I’ve just turned the air conditioner on.
I just turned up the dial on the space heater, so I can take off some trappings.
I want something to eat, but I don’t know what is available in my freezer. I wish I could put it out on the porch, but the summer temps would skyrocket my electric bill. I need more room in my kitchen. And I DO have room on my patio for the freezer.
What I don’t have room for is the pantry in the kitchen. So I will have to think about this dilemma for a while...
In other news, I was really glad I had cleaned house yesterday! Totally unexpected, but welcomed comany, just the same.
Maybe you could keep your freezer on the patio during the winter. And it’s nice you had cleaned for company!
The music practice for tomorrow reached a point of diminishing returns. We’ll run through the most unpredictable bits tomorrow morning before we go. The weather-feed says it will be 65 and storming in the morning. I think it’s too hot for my beaded dress from the Hospice Thrift Store. Maybe we’ll get a cold snap for New Year’s Eve!
I’m thinking that the freezer would be a good thing to have on the patio, no matter the time of year. It will give me much more room in the kitchen from what I have now.
I think I need to go to bed.
Tomorrow is another day and I have to pray about how it is going to affect me!
Merry Christmas EVE!!!
;-)
Totaled the car, probably busted a couple ribs.
Oh dear Null! Prayers up for you. Have you been to a doc yet?
I don’t go to the doctor for every sneeze, sniffle or broken bone...
Oh, no! What a terrible thing to have happen!
