ISIS Surrenders in face of Climate Change Conference

Raqqa, Syria

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.

"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."

An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.

Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."

According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.

"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."

So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."

Someone slipped up this time.

‘Twas the dark of the moon
On the 6th of June
In a Kenworth hauling logs
Cab-over Pete with a reefer on
and a Jimmy hauling hogs
We’s headed for bear on I-one-oh
‘Bout a mile out of Shaky Town
I said, “Pig Pen, this here’s the Rubber Duck
And we’re about to put the hammer down. 10-4?”

(best I can remember, anyway)

Sounds pretty close. June 6 is my brother’s birthday. I may have mailed his card in time!

Someone slipped up this time.

Slipped up big time. Some Wallyworld stock manager will lose his head over this.. ;-)

Third of June is Mrs. NoC's birthday. (Her b'day present did not come from Wallyworld.)

I always tell Mrs. ArGee, “You have me, what else could you want?”

I am usually able to see again in a day or two.

I buy myself whatever I want. This year I already bought the two short-person chairs, one for me and one for Shannon.

Boy. Folks around these parts are getting pretty testy these days. My neighbor went off on me as I was trying to tell her the way dispatch worked in Paratransit, trying to let her know that if a driver doesn’t call in, he can be fired, and that everything is recorded by federal regulations, and she wanted none of that. She told me I thought I knew everything and that I was a show off and blah-blah-blah.

I apologized when she came back later but she wanted none of it. She’s got some massive anger issues, but I sure didn’t expect her to blow up at me. I was just trying to explain the way things worked, and that was the wrong thing: Her client was dropped because the driver couldn’t find her place and that happened three times, and it was all my fault.

Dang. What IS it with people?

My theory is they know they weren't made for a world like this. Those that accept the reason we live in a lesser world than the one we were made for learn to cope. Those that don't develop serious issues.

Sometimes people are just having a bad day. Sometimes I’m having a bad day, but I don’t have it at you because you’re not right here in front of me!

When you have one of those attitude days, you could always go to Wallyworld. You'll find plenty of volunteers with which to share.. ;-)

I have a lot of really bad days, but my CSR training kicks in, and I go out to the ramada and sit with the peeps and make the best of it.

Yes, I know not everyone has had CSR training, but what she did was so far out in left field, it had all of us (three besides her) gaping.

And yes, I also know she was “protecting her client” but having worked for Paratransit, AND ridden on it, I know that her client deliberately missed three rides in a row and blamed it on the driver. I’ve had to remove several from the list because they failed to show for a valid reason.

However, I’m not going to throw that in her face. I doubt very much she will talk to me again, but I will write an apology to her, just the same. And at that point, it’s up to her.

And I may not go out there any more. Chuck told me there were other ways to handle it, and yes, there were, but when one is blind-sided, those other ways are a little hard to come by. Charlie never said a word. And the one gal who didn’t see it but came in afterwards, has many times noticed and commented on the anger issues this other woman has manifested. I just don’t know, any more.

I think removing myself from the peeps at the ramada will be the best thing.
