Raqqa, Syria
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.
"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."
An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.
Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."
According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.
"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."
So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."
Congratulations on being at home with your kittehs!

My brain isn’t used to sleeping so late! *blush*
So how was the mini-vacation for the girls?
I was supposed to have brunch with my daughter, but she begged off. Ohwell. Life is like that, sometimes.
Now in book form. ;-)

Now that the passenger trains are gone, the C&O in melted into CSX, and if there are any locomotives still in this paint scheme they are as rare as a conservative democrat, you don't see Chessie, her kittens Nip and Tuck, or her mate Peake anymore...

But you can get the whole family on a coffee mug from the C&O Historical Society.. ;-)
I LOVE that Chessie picture.
.
The girls had a good time. I’ll send you a picture! Elen caught a cold. Sally went out to the park with the Cub Scouts; now she’s resting before a babysitting job tonight.
The Spanish choir had bean dip, cheese dip, and atole de pina, which is a vanilla-cinnamon flavored grog with pineapple pieces. And we also practiced.

WIlma's up in the locomotive cab.. ;-)

I had of course, noticed and ignored that.
I will point out, however, that moving through our spherical elevator car system counterclockwise by two Habitats twice, which would ordinarily mean losing sixteen hours on the clock minus your travel time for each trip -- does not put you into either yesterday or the day before.
Also, the novice would-be time-traveler is cautioned to try to be sure that there really is a physical place with air and other conveniences ready to receive him when he makes his journey. The journey of a thousand days begins with a careful synchronization of one's watch.
I had no idea! How sweet is that?
Now I’m even more embarrassed, because for the first time in I don’t know how long, I had to actually THINK about military time... :o|
I forget about the Habitats having different times. This just seems to be a glitch in my machinery.
Just blame Bob: that’s what I always do when I make a mistake.
Just because everything is dark around you doesn't give you an excuse to be asleep on your watch.
We are, after all, in the Asteroid Zone. There be rocks out there, and we live in a glass house. (Aluminum oxynitride actually, but you know what I mean.)

I’m going to order a CHESSIE mug.
You are so daring and adventuresome. Folks around you must tremble in trepidation.
Do be careful. I broke my mug. Maybe yours will have nine lives.
I decided that you can eat anything you want for if you walk to the store. This seemed like I good plan to to me till I measured how far I had to walk to get to the grocery store. 927 paces from my driveway to the door of the store. That is 927 steps to you land lubbers.
I worry about the traffic danger I’m exposed to just fetching the mail.
Next time you’re out driving, take a look at all the concrete curbs you pass. Every one of them is marked from tire impacts!
Those people out there couldn’t drive without running into things if they had slot cars like they have in San Francisco.
Oh I love trains. :)
Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mothers in here.
