Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.
"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."
An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.
Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."
According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.
"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."
So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."

When I finished serving the eviction notices, knocked the dirt from the cleats of my workboots, and came back inside i found this room, which had sunbeams streaming through the windows when I went outside, had taken on a severely darkened aspect. And the furbeasts had forsaken the window bed.
To check on the apparent approaching atmospheric disturbance I consulted the not-always-ACCUrate-WEATHER function residing in the desktop digital device and was greeted with a red stopsign with internal exclamation mark which informed me: "Wind Advisory - Wind Advisory in effect from 5:00 PM EDT until Tuesday, 6:00 PM EDT" followed by the warning that we're all gonna die, er, I mean, warning info: * WINDS...WEST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH.
Winds we've had before, but looking a bit further I found some info that was a bit more disturbing - another freeze is coming Sunday night with a projected low of 21°. And the flowerthings are now even more in bloom.
And to add to the rain that blew through here this morning on its way to flush out Boston, we have more rain on the way (it's out by Scranton now so it's about two hours away..)

And with that, I’m on my way to bed. It was a hard day for me, with very little sleep the last two nights.
I didn’t get all the chores done today, but I got the biggest ones out of the way.
Tomorrow will be dishes and vacuuming the rug. I want to shampoo it, but the weather has to improve before I do that, as I will have to be outside for a couple of hours while it dries.
No, it's just a gentle reminder that kids are smarter and more observant than we are.

There where one or two impressive gusts.
We had worse in ‘87, a Cat4 passed up the Channel. It was more than a little hair raising.
