Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.
"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."
An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.
Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."
According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.
"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."
So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."

Don’t take that one in homes until you get a load of where the HVAC systems are normally put.
When we lived in Houston the HVAC systems were in the attics, which were little more than crawl-spaces. We had to have ours replaced. The guy spent a lot of time in a hot, cramped attic before it was done.
NOTE: Air Conditioners rarely need servicing when it’s cool.

Well, for those who may or may not be interested, the corned beef and cabbage meal is excellent, even if I DO say so myself! :o])
Charlie just came and got his plate, so I expect a report from him tomorrow. He likes my cooking, and doesn’t mind being my guinea pig! (This is the first time I have done the traditional meal, ever.)
The crock pot will keep it warm but not overcook it until my company shows up!

And someone suggested HVAC. I think that's a real possibility. It combines a lot of manly skills; mechanical processes, electrical connections, possibly hydraulic or at least plumbing, and gas compression and expansion control.
It is certainly a skill that will continue to be in demand for the life span of anyone currently alive.
I'm working up a concept I call solar/geothermal. It's an attempt to get solar energy to work with geothermal energy storage to minimize how much controlling and additional energy is needed to effect stable environments in dwellings.
I'm also reminded of a slogan I thought of for solar energy; "All the energy you need precisely when and where you don't need it."

I really like the stuff, but don’t always get to have it. There was a German woman who lived here, who made the meal every year for the pot luck gathering in March, but since she passed away about five years ago, no one has made it for the gatherings.
Since I’ve never made it, I wanted to try it for my company, and used good ol’ Charlie for my Royal Taster. He doesn’t like to turn down free meals from me!
But I don’t cook for any get-together these days, because the residents here are greedy and act like they are starving to death. Gluttons.
I saw that on FB, and I think all dogs can “assume the position!” It’s still funny!
