Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.
"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."
An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.
Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."
According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.
"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."
So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."
I think it would be gross.
I talked with some guys in the computer store a few days ago (they build to suit your needs) and one said he really likes Goober Chrome. I asked him what OS he was using: Win 10.
What a disappointment. When I can afford it, I will have them make a laptop for me. It is guaranteed for as long as you have it. Repairs and upgrades are free. They have a package for $799, and they carry their own financing.
So when I get my bills paid down a ways more, I will go get one of those GOOD computers. No more Dell or Asus or Toshiba...

73F and nicely breezy here. It would be chilly if one was sitting outside in the breeze, but I’m not. One of my choir members came over, and we chose some new music.
Tom the Son says he’s not thrilled with college and want to take a trade course in the fall, perhaps welding, in aid of being financially independent sooner rather than later. “Great,” I said, “Get us some details asap!”
We all had a good laugh over the possibility of his taking Early Childhood Education and opening the Slytherin Preschool for Sociopathic Young Herpetologists ;-).
I’m trying to figure out how to get my project moved to the cloud.
I’m thinking the view would be spectacular.
That is, if we can get away from all these tall buildings.
He could have made big money moving up to the new American oil fields if Obama hadn’t made it necessary for Saudi Arabia to declare financial war on Iran.
Now American oil isn’t worth producing.
Maybe it will become valuable once again some day.
The trade courses do sometimes allow for more than one to be taken at a time.
Say, Electronics in the morning and Machine shop in the evening.

Yeah, that’s a problem. I told him to check the *current* employment opportunities before he decides what skill is more useful.
Housing construction is up locally. Maybe HVAC installer would be a sure job.

I was making the bed, and stopped short of putting pillowcases on, just so I could sit down for a bit. It has taken me all week to do what my aide could do in two hours. Boy. That stinks.
And now I want a beer.

The freeze comes tonight with a low of 27 (per the notalwaysAccu-rateWeather folk) followed by Sat. low of 25, a high Sunday of 36, low Sunday night of 26, low Monday night of 25 and then above freezing the rest of the week. If they don't look like wilted lettuce by Tuesday they will have persevered.
On another note, they are noising about the possibility of a Nor'easter Sunday with snow stuff projected to be either 1-3" or 3-6" depending on the dartboard they use and the price of nasturtiums in Bangladesh. The only thing they seem to agree on is that New England is in the 6-12" zone.
And of course, by Wednesday the high will be back to 60. So whatever snow we may get will melt.
Oh. My. Goodness! I was hoping to hear something positive about the pretty little things. Doesn’t that storm know winter is over with on Saturday? *sheesh*
Weather doesn’t believe in calendars or season names.
I remind people that we’ve had ice storms on Mother’s Day..
