Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.
"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."
An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.
Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."
According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.
"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."
So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."
That’s very true. And sad, as well. Especially since it takes me so long to do it all, and takes much longer to recover.
I’m going to go out and hose down the patio, then shake the throw rugs and maybe I can get the floors dusted today, as well. Maybe.

NC has posted about it several years. It sounds like a really fun event unless it rains. Same could be said for MerleFest and stuff like that ...
As fun events go I’m sure it would be a good one.
There isn’t much I like in Christian Music since Petra stopped doing real rock-n-roll. The last Petra album I bought was Beyond Belief. I had actually liked John Schlitt when he was at Head East and was stoked to hear he’d become a Christian.
10th Ave. North’s “Worn” is pretty good. I like a couple of songs by Mercy Me. And The Fray’s “How to Save a Life” is really good. But mostly the songs aren’t written for men.
In fact, back when I lived in Houston and volunteered at KSBJ radio I talked with their program director about how their music was changing and who I really liked. His response, “Too male.” And there you go.
Rain does have a dampening effect on the event..
Last year was the wettest year of all the years I have attended. I am told that one of the few years I missed was worse (1991 I think).
Yes, I agree their website is confusing. Maybe it’s because I’m old and they are catering to the smertphome crowd now, but I find that looking for stuff that I know is there is still a chore.
Add to that they have changed their ticketing agent or whatever their function is called officially and that adds more confusion especially for someone who who has been used to the way it was.. ;-) When they were using itickets it certainly seemed less confuzled.
Check ‘lineup’ on their website for bands. They run three stages - main, fringe, and HM - so there is some noise for everyone. Look into it and if you think you might want to attend talk to me. Our group is always looking for fresh meat, er I mean, new faces plus since we are a registered group we have an assigned campsite. That may not mean anything to you, but groups have assigned sites that are allotted based on the order that you registered. We were number 3, so barring rain like last year we should be right behind the main stage.
Of course you could register your own group (need 15 adults minimum - adult is 12 and over) or go individual - something I don’t recommend unless you REALLY like trekking in from the North 40 because individual campsites are on a first come first served basis and are farther out (from main stage) than any of the group areas.
We can add to our group up to the date of ticket cutoff (June 15). The amount of space we get is based on the ‘body count’ - how many people we have registered with the group - so it helps to have everyone officially added. We have one who has volunteered there each year and he could camp in the staff area but he has been camping with us. I always have to remind him to ‘add’ himself which one year prompted him to make some comment about ‘we were only interested in his body’.. which if you didn’t know what the conversation was about would sound - strange. ;-)
Seriously if it looks like something you would want to check out and you think you could stand spending four days at a campsite with some really strange (could that be ‘peculiar’?) people from a varied church history (minus the Charismatic Catholic component this year, she’s tending twins) talk to me about details.
Then if you join us this year both of us can work on getting Tax Chick to take a scenic drive North next year..
I think it would be fun, someday when I’m not committed full time on other people’s activities.

Of course your billowing, towering clouds of clouds come our way, but we’ll have 20 fewer of those F thingies when they arrive.
Tomorrow we’ll get up to 64 of them if the prognosticators are prognosticating properly.
But it looks like by the time it gets a chance to bathe Gotham it will have lost much of its energy. Most of the energy is up doing things to natives along the St. Lawrence.
That’s ok though. Up there they have a different word for everything..
Out in the West they have a name for rain, and wind, and fire.
Here in the East we have names for them too. We call them rain, and wind, and fire.
We call some of them Tom.
Wind and fire, no doubt.
