Raqqa, Syria
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.
"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."
An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.
Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."
According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.
"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."
So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."
I’m all for it.
I don’t think he likes me.
I liked this tagline so much that I left in it today, instead of replacing it with my gripe about pronoun cases.
As if I understood that. It’s not like I was homeschooling...
:o|
Floofy!!!
Ungh. Allergies... ungh...
I was treated to a surprise last night: PBS had an encore showing of the final episode of Downton Abbey, so I got to watch it. It kept me up almost two hours later than I would have been in bed, but at least I know how it ends!!
Laundry day today, and when I’m done, I’m coming home and take a nap. I can’t afford for the fatigue to catch up with me this week, for sure.
After the nap, I’ll start on cleaning the living room.
Sounds like a plan. We’ve been to the gym, and now I’m trying to sort out the rest of the day.
The laundry is done for one more week. It’s 53 degrees with the winds at 8 mph, gusting to 13.
And, need I say, “pollen?”
LOTS of accidents this morning, and that’s probably due to the time change.
Well, I managed to not get into any accidents driving back from upstate NY yesterday.
The troopers were everywhere. I guess they thought a time change day was a good day to catch people napping.
I can’t believe I wasted post 5050 with a status report.
What happens at 5050?
I’m working on paperwork for Boy Scouts. They’re already signing up for summer camp.
It’s just an interesting post number. End of a page. 50 twice, etc.
I still miss the Scouts. I’d have gotten connected with them here in Manhattan (yes, there is a Manhattan Council) if they hadn’t caved to the rainbows.
I’ll be glad if Gov Sandoval makes DST a thing of the past. It really messes people up.
I have my posts set for 20 per page so it doesn’t take so long to load. And read. I get bored easily...Adult ADHD...
Yeah, you tell ‘em TC!
Wut?
You will need to explain that to the educationally dysfunctional.......
The laundry is put away, and the living room has lost some of it’s clutter, and now I’m wishing I had frosty, cool beer.
And I just swept the patio free of all the seed pods that covered it, and that REALLY wore me out!
Tomorrow, I will clean the fridge, just in case maintenance delivers a “new” one this week. The stove is already clean. Dang. I feel like I put in a full day’s work!!
Tomorrow, I will get the frosty beer just because I feel like I deserve it!
Pronouns in English come in two basic kinds: subject (nominative) and objective. “I” and “we” are subject pronouns. “Me” and “us” are objective pronouns. Therefore:
I went to the store.
They gave the book to me.
Most people are okay this far. However:
James and I went to the store.
They gave the book to James and me.
A substantial percentage of writers will say, “They gave the book to James and I,” because their mothers told them not to say, “Me and James went to the store,” but didn’t explain why.
For a further complication:
We students hated our English teacher.
She gave failing grades to all us students.
but
We students all hated our English teacher,
while
All of us students hated our English teacher.
Ah, Got you. Thanks ,TC.
Of course, if see it don’t hesitate to use the reply button. :)
