Raqqa, Syria
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.
"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."
An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.
Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."
According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.
"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."
So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."
I always thought that would be a good cussword, if I could only figure out how to pronounce it! LOL!
How is Jake feeling, now?
Kind of down in the dumps. He’s in his bed, and it’s rainy. He came down for some food when I filled his bowl.
I still remember Monty Python’s “The Argument Clinic.”
Shut your festering gob-u-tit you snotty faced heap of parrot droppings. Your kind really make me puke you vacuous, coffee-nosed, malodorous pervert!!!
Malodorous. That’s one I want to work in sometime.
Poor Jake. I hope he is back to his ol’ self by tomorrow. Poor fluff.
I can’t believe how much I am looking forward to payday, finally...
And this is Leap Year, which means we have a Sadie Hawkins Day, but I don’t have anyone to propose to!
I have to tell you, the needle I got this morning was exactly what I needed to make the project in question, and I think it is going to turn out very pretty and very soft, which it would not have been with the smaller needles. It would have been stiff and not very comfortable to wear.
I love Monty Python, but it has been so long since I have seen any, I have forgotten how much fun it was to watch.
I’m off to bed, Children! Be kind to each other and remember the best is yet to come!
A gal I was waiting with to NOT get my radio-iodine got to talking and she, not being on herself, was curious if I was on social media.
I said no, I’m on a political forum sometimes it gets rather acrimonious, it’s more of an antisocial site.
She had to allow that she hadn’t heard acrimonious since high school.

LoL, Wow!
This may take a little bit of time.
You see , it was like this: Umm, mutter, mutter, fumble, shuffle. Hey, you following me around?
Seriously, the glass on that car is impressively strong.
Just spotted your tag line....
So what is your special power? Eeeek.
Face, what you have been so heinously exposed to ,is what a Zulu friend of mine calls the “English Channel”.
He first experienced one of these TV type when we went to Oxford during his cultural initiation.
It was like a scene from Bugs Bunny cartoon.
Much strong Ale was required to facilitate recovery.
Now ,if you can imagine the aftermath: A six foot two drunk Zulu with culture shock being loaded onto a train to get us back to our own town.
Wasn’t pretty. Funny ,but not pretty. We were both to drunk to be legal, but got home.
He still mentions the TV, ten years later.
They can cause mental scaring on the unwary.
Wasn’t his first name ‘Eliot’? Closely tied to the number 9? Alleged assaulter of Svetlana Travis at the Plaza Hotel on February 13?
That Sphincter Man?
I wouldn’t want to be photographed with him either.. ;-)
I would suspicion that the glass has some pressure fractures.
The front windshield is safety glass (two glass pieces with a plastic layer bonded in between.) It cracks but tends to stay in place with the shards stuck to the plastic layer. The other windows are most likely tempered and will shatter into teensy weensy cubelike chunks.
Of course, the owner might not know his windshield is pressure treated by moosehoof until the melt.. ;-)
I’m glad the needle is Just Right. Jake is in bed again, treating me like it’s all my fault. Back from Cubs, now I need to clean up from supper. It’s raining again.
Revisting the Kingfisher as posted by moose.
Belted Kingfishers are what we have locally. Amazing small birds surprisingly hard to spot at rest on tree branches, but the bright dusty blue blends well with sun dappled woodland shadows.
At one of the beaver ponds I visited, I'd hear the call and rattle and then a very fast moving blue blur as it struck the prey in the water. Whirling wings almost as blindingly fast as a humming bird's. Found some high speed vids showing how uberstreamlined they are in flight. The crest flattens with the neck extended, lo-lo drag.
Belted Kingfisher with Crayfish
The video shows how one deals with a crayfish. You can also hear the call and rattle, subdued I think by the automatic gain control. These guys are LOUD in rattle mode. OTC consumer grade recorders with switchable AGC aren't easy to find, necessary to catch the full effect.
...enjoy.
After watching him swallow whole that crayfish as big as his head, I have a stomachache. That’s a crustacean, for goodness’s sake!
That’s why boids have a gravelly craw, it’s fo de crawdaddys. Made for each other. All part of the Designers plan.
Gotta do something, I guess, if you don’t have hands that make tools.
