Raqqa, Syria
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.
"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."
An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.
Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."
According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.
"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."
So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."
Okers, understood!
Your kids don’t need to know about the ones that come after. Except for maybe Jackie Kennedy. I love her clothes.
Oh wait. You have to have Reagan on that list.
New textbooks are really expensive!
They are. But I like old textbooks.
I’ve seen ones from the 19th century scanned online. Very enjoyable and interesting reading.
We have a number of reprints of old history texts and novels. However, at some point, you want your chronology to approach the present.
Great to hear from you, Gefn
Look after yourself.
The Gang is here when you need a chat. :)
I’m sorry to hear that, Gefn, but you can’t get kitty pix if you’re not online. And my recommendation for being overwhelmed? (It happens to me in a lot of situations, so I can tell you what I do about it.)
If you can make a list of the things that overwhelm you, like you did on here, only on paper, look at them and decide which one you want to tackle first. There HAS to be a starting point! And it doesn’t matter where you start, as long as you start.
Don’t throw the list away. Add to it as you need to.
Maybe you could start with the weight loss. Just take it day by day. Some people weigh every day, some folks weigh once a week, and some weigh less often. Whatever makes you feel the best about what you see on the scales. I weigh once a week, as doing it every day depresses me with water weight gain and loss.
If I can cut out the comfort foods, I only do one helping a day to start. Give up one item of comfort a day for the first few days, then work on a second. Make little changes to your diet as you go along.
Maybe you could start back with WW, too.
No matter what, we are all here for you.
Thanks Gentlemen.
You are good peeps.
Welcome.
Prayers up for you!
If you have a FB account, send me a friend request, and I will supply you in kitty pics!
These were secure Christian run shelters. Locked doors and a monitor on every floor. Women get their own floor with doors locked from the rest of the facility.
Check out the New York City Rescue Mission.
Nicely done!
On that timeline thing, I’ve been bitten a number of times by making a change that works well for a number of days, then doesn’t. Some event that doesn’t happen often triggers the problem and then - pfft. I don’t think to go back to the thing I last changed until after I’ve tried lots of other stuff.
So you got to learn from my lesson. It’s nice when that can happen.
On poetry.
The computer is hosed again
Woe, woe hosed computer
Time passes but I cannot tell the time for the computer is my clock
Things happen but I can not follow them for the computer is my window
Life goes on but I do not live it for the computer is my life
Woe, woe hosed computer
Geek poetry. :-D
I would say G-d doesn’t put anything on our plate that He won’t help us handle, but sometimes His help doesn’t seem to help.
I think it’s because He’s more interested in my character than in me having an easy life.
Wich is in direct conflict with my goals.
And, of course, I’ll be praying.
Was not casting aspersions Argee, just saying that it has been a problem in the past in shelters all over the country, not just NYC. And it is not always men that are the aggressors or thieves. We never can tell what experiences these people have had. Where one finds sheep, one can also find wolves.
Thanks! I’ve learned from the Best!! *hug*
And I passed on the wisdom. A neighbor came this morning because her new computer wasn’t working right. I went over and did the obvious, unplug, replug, reboot and reset, and she was good to go.
But at noon, she came back and asked me to come and do it again. By noon, my brain has begun to flag and I told her tomorrow was better. She wasn’t happy but she accepted it. It’s a new computer from her son in LA...I told her to call him...that was mean, right? I told her I’m not available for anything past noon.
LOL!
