Raqqa, Syria
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.
"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."
An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.
Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."
According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.
"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."
So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."
Fully mirrored?
You mean the exterior is clad with mirrors or polished steel?
Awesome....
Just a note: Wash them before you use them. It will bring up the knap and make them hold the body heat better.
And get the best you can afford, as they will last much longer!
She only stayed part of a day? Wow! Awesome mom who can do that when she feels the need!
Will do. !
uhh oh....
Nahh....hardy northern euro stock welcomes blizzards, easier to track lost Siberian wolves. Nice furs.
Here we have to settle for Canadian wolf-coyotes. Bummer....
;>)
She flew up Wednesday morning, rented a car at the airport, drove over here, stayed until 6:00, went back to the airport, turned her car in, took a shuttle to a hotel near the airport, spent the night, took the shuttle back to the airport, picked up her car, and drove home.
She used to do it all in one looooong (3:00 a.m. to midnight) day, but she’s decided she’s too old for that now.
Coy-wolves are pretty doggone dangerous to mess with. Ask No C. He sometimes has them in his large Outback Area.
Ohyez...stay warm and keep lots of firewood handy. You never know when you may need it!
If she has the same travel bug I have, it would be a fun jaunt. Now, I’m really limited by the vehicle I own and the lack of money for gas, meals and a hotel room.
When we were getting COLA raises, I would take the first one, fill up the tank, and head for AZ or Southern Utah for a couple of days, as I only had to buy one meal going and one coming, plus fill up once.
Those days seem to be gone for good.
But I’m glad your mother can and wants to do it! :o])
The crumpets are here! The crumpets are here! And who knew lemon curd could be so yummy!!
The not-necessarily-Accu(rate)-Weather folks have been pinging my smortphome with the "OMG you're all gonna die" warnings, got three this AM. (Well, actually it says 'Winter Storm Watch' but the incessant frequency at which they feel I need to be told creates a certain disgusted annoyance..)
They started out telling us we were in the 12-24" area but the latest 'emergency warning' says:
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN UPTON HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON. * LOCATIONS...INTERIOR PORTIONS OF NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY AND THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY. * HAZARD TYPES...HEAVY SNOW. * ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 4 TO 8 INCHES. * WINDS...NORTH 15 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH.
The 4-8" part isn't bad and the drive could still be negotiable without breaking out the Olde Deere but that "WINDS...NORTH 15 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH" part could tend to create drifts a meter high at two spots in the drive...
Of course I'm sure it is all a scare tactic and at the last minute Algore will pop out of the Eastern Field and say "Fooled ya all. It's going to be warm and sunny due to my latest invention Climatechange. By the way isn't my internet nifty?"
Or else not.
And we just wait and see.. ;-)
So..
Are their pelts worth anything? The local bunch has been increasing in bravery of late. Had one in the yard by the cedar tree which put it less than 25 feet from the back door. And the pack has been hanging out just east of the silo in the remains of the summer goldenrod and other tall weeds just at the edge of the part I mow (in mowing season of course.)
Much too close to the house and out outdoor cats.
They are due to be perforated..
So if it's worth it they might get skinned. And I could send the dog meat (or advanced dogmeat substitute ;-) to Obama.. Otherwise - buzzards.
Here's whaat they say now (subject to change without warning or consultation):
Anything that retards the operation of the federal government must be considered a gift from God.
Hear! Hear!
Heck no! Watching third worlders and privileged G-Class drivers spinning and rolling almost counts as winter sport for area old-timers. Radio joke for more than two decades in DC and suburbs at the slightest hint of snow, “Abandon your cars!”
