LOS ANGELES >> U.S. Customs officials seized 450 illegal pork tamales from a passenger coming through LAX from Mexico earlier this month.
"Although tamales are a popular holiday tradition, foreign meat products can carry serious animal diseases from countries affected by outbreaks of Avian Influenza, Mad Cow and Swine Fever," said Anne Maricich, CBP Acting Director of Field Operations in Los Angeles in a written statement. "Every day CBP agriculture specialists prevent the intentional and unintentional introduction of harmful pests and foreign animal diseases into the U.S."

The uncle of a coworker of mine bought a pork product (forget if it was a tamale or burrito) from one of those sidewalk venders. He got a parasite in his brain...brain damage.

What was he planning to do with all those tamales? It’s nowhere near the Cinco de Mayo.

It's just a matter of time before all pork is illegal. Wouldn't want to offend our muslim enemies.

"... foreign meat products can carry serious animal diseases from countries affected by outbreaks of Avian Influenza, Mad Cow and Swine Fever," But somehow the disease & parasite infected people from those same countries are of no concern.
also, Ebola, if you have Ebola, c'mon in but leave that monkey-meat casserole back home...

Chili today, hot tamale LOL. That was a favorite pun of Bill Keene.

Glut of free range Nevada burro drives down pork prices in Mexico. Tamalistas rely on exports to salvage profits.

But are they refugee tamales?

Tamales are sold by the thousands in San Antonio for the Christmas holidays.
To: EveningStar
Amazing isn’t it, our government can stop illegal tamales from entering the country but are helpless to stop the illegal producers of the tamales from entering the country.
