The Fat-Burning Man Show Denise Minger: Death By Food Pyramid, Women Who Gain Weight on Paleo, and How to Spot a Fraud
(Excerpt) Read more at youtube.com ...
People who have severe allergies often have those allergies because of some underlying cause. Trying to discover the underlying cause is of course often problematical if not impracticable. That said, the videos, current and upcoming, sometimes comment on the role in which carbohydrates, gluten, and lactose are responsible for instigating a wide array of allergies. An individual person’s unique genetics also play a role in whether or not a particular food substance can or cannot cause an allergy.
In a ketogenic diet the gluten and carbohydrates in the slice/s of toast can cause allergies and certainly does spike blood sugars and a higher than normal level of insulin hormones in response to the increased blood sugars. The sugars in the jelly add to those already elevated blood sugar and insulin responses. The polyunsaturated fats in the margarine help to produce a bad form of cholesterols and fats which tend to deposit fats in the liver, pancreas, and over time clog the insulin receptors on the cells, which then results in insulin insensitivity and the eventual onset of diabetes in chronic cases. In a ketogenic diet the whole egg is important and the egg yok is the most important part of the egg for all of its healthy fats and nutrients. Meats are only a small fraction of the ketogenic diet. Eating too much lean meat as a fraction of the overall diet and macronutrients is unhealthy due to the effect of the proteins. Aboriginal societies which rely exclusively on meat, milk, and blood as their nutrition, such as the Masai and Inuit, can do so in most part because they eat a 4 to 1 ratio of animal fats to lean meat, and practially no carbohydrates at all.
Although it may not be applicable to your personal circumstances, some people have discovered that nearly eliminating carbohydrates from their diets resolved their severe allergies and greatly restored their health to normal These videos also comment upon how removing carbohydrates from the diet has reversed the growth of cancerous tumors which are known to feed on the sugars in the body.
That is one of the prime reasons, I have been posting that pyramid for about a week.
Minger’s voice is UNBEARABLE. NASAL!!! Every time she says a long E it’s like a drill through my eardrums.
Can you please summarize a bit? Are you on Paleo? Which carbs do you eat/prefer?
What is the biggest NO type fruit or veggie?
Thanks much. And, thank for this thread!!
“Look at pics of our ancestors. . .”
Read some stuff by our ancestors. The Laura Ingalls Wilder books are a good example. Meals are detailed there, and no effort was made to make it politically correct.
They chowed DOWN.
They had salt pork just about every meal in the winter, it seems. Potatoes, lots of them, fried in lard. The best descriptions of food are in “Farmer Boy.” The amount of pie, beef, etc was startling. In one book Almanzo and his brother casually polish of something like 40 or 80 pancakes (with molasses) in one sitting.
They are also cold a lot, which burns calories, or move a lot, during planting and harvest time.
But they were hardly getting along on nuts, seeds, and veggies. They ate a LOT of fat and carbs.
Check out the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. It is excellent for many digestive difficulties. Out of desperation I began following it about 7 years ago for Ulcerative Colitis. When I follow it, I do great. Sometimes I go off and the symptoms come back.
>> nearly eliminating carbohydrates from their diets
Where 50 grams/day of net carbs should be the minimum.
>> can do so in most part because they eat a 4 to 1 ratio of animal fats to lean meat
I see no point in eating lean red-meat. I’d rather have poultry or fish. But animal fats aren’t the only source of fats.
Do you have a ping list for Paleo or Diabetes?
we were starved at supper time....if we had corn on the cob from our garden we would each of us eat 5-6 whole ears...
if we had halupki, we ate several...
we ate and ate and ate...
of oourse, we did not have snacks.no soda..potato chips were for a very special occasion, and we didn't really have a lot of crackers either...just saltines...
when I was hungry during the day, as a child, I would get a teaspoon and have a big spoonful of Crisco.....or I would take a piece of bread and put mustard on it...my brothers and sister would have a plain mayonnaise sandwich.(of course it was Helmans!)
Anytime I see an author selling a dietary book and then talks about how they wrecked their health on the fad diets before promoting their latest diets, I cringe at the thought of listening to anything else they may have to say. Nevertheless, in this case she seems to have some good information to share. Her question about the fate of gut flora when starches are being removed from the diet deserves a good answer.
“Can you please summarize a bit?”
There is no one size fits all diet, because everyone has something different about their genetics, their circumstances, and their particular needs. This series of videos is focusing primarily upon the LCHF (Low Carbohydrate High Fat) diets and particularly on the ketogenic diets. The ketogenic diets have been known for centuries as a treatment for diabetes, so it is one diet of special interest to families who must cope with diabetes. Watch for the upcoming videos, because some of them will focus on food choices, meal plans, and recipes. One or more of the videos will present a chart showing the relative positions of the different diets ranging from vegan and Ornish to Paleo and ketogenic with everything in between.
“Are you on Paleo?”
It does not restrict enough carbohydrates to consistently maintain nutritional ketosis.
“Which carbs do you eat/prefer?”
Once upon a time I was asked what my favorite food group was? I replied that I had no favorite food group, because I liked some of most food groups. Now that I no longer eat the carbohydrates in the Bread food group, I’ve come to realize the Bread food group really was my favorite food group in the past. I still have fond memories of the time I arrived at the Gare de Lyon train station in Paris after an overnight trip from Rome, smelled fresh baked bread, and discovered a food stall selling croissant fresh out of the oven, laid on thick fresh country butter, and strawberry preserves. Mmmm Mmmm good! Now its omelets, bacon, sausage, sour cream....
As far as carbohydrates go these days, its low carbohydrate vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, Romaine lettuce, fresh tomatoes, creamy and fat salad dressings, olives, raspberries, and so forth.
What is the biggest NO type fruit or veggie?
Bananas, grapes, potatoes, beans, beets, turnips, and other starchy vegetables.
Yes, you’ve been added to the Ping list.
Please add me to your list. Thank you.
No offense but why just egg whites and not the yolks? If it’s cholesterol you’re worried about the bread, jam, and margarine (horrible frankenfood!!!) will cause inflammation in your joints and blood vessels that lead to atherosclerosis. Eating fat from whole eggs is not harmful at all. Nor is meat. It’s those terrible grains that are. Especially since most are genetically modified and/or contain large amounts of pesticide residue.
No offense taken, I happen to agree with about the FRANKEN foods. You mistook what is given for a ‘Gastric Emptying Delay Test’ as a normal meal. It was the last Gastro test they ran, and should have been the first as I am a classic case symptom wise. It is often confused with Idiopathic Colitis, or a bad gallbladder. 3-4 ER trips in 1 year and stays in the hospital were no fun. All you got was a over salted liquid diet for 3 days and a IV.
There are 2 drugs Gastro’s use to treat GP, Reglan which the FDA has Black Boxed for 12 days due to Neurological side effects, 1st pill broke me out in HIVES; and the NON USA FDA approved, buy it over seas Domperidone, this one is again a 12 day Black Box labeled drug for Heart Disease. Yet Gastro’s will leave patients on either for years.
GINGER ROOT capsules will handle the nausea/vomiting very well, better than Phenergan does. But Phenergan is a fall back drug.
This was the food that is given to you when you have a ‘Gastric Emptying Delay test’, it is given to every patient as it is the control agent, they know exactly how long a normal person takes to digest that amount of food. You are given 10 mins to consume it. It is a Fast the night before test. Usual time to digest is 1 hr. When you have Gastroparesis..GP (Slow Motility) http://www.medicinenet.com/gastroparesis/article.htm it can take you up to 4 hrs to digest that amount of food. Once per hr they take photos of your digestive tract to determine how much you have digested. It is usually a common, chronic problem with people who have had sections of intestinal tract removed, most are on feeding tubes or J tubes. Gallbladder surgery is another cause if the surgeon is sloppy and cuts the Vagus Nerve http://www.healthline.com/human-body-maps/vagus-nerve
Not all GP patients have had any surgeries, researchers are starting with small studies to link GP to PPI’s like Nexium and long term use of Nexium to GP. Nexium was meant to be a 2 week drug to allow ulcers to begin to heal, not a life time drug. What you don’t hear well on the commercials is that Nexium is a Bone Density causing drug. http://www.fda.gov/Drugs/DrugSafety/PostmarketDrugSafetyInformationforPatientsandProviders/ucm213206.htm, yes it works great on GERD. But it hates your bones/spine.
Even my Synthroid if over dosed or under dosed will cause bone density issues.
It is a very unpleasant digestive disorder to live with.
Dense meats, high fiber foods, high fat foods, and you are in agony for hours until it passes through your digestive system. Makes what you can eat a monotonous chore. Eating out a nightmare. I’ve lived on Chicken Noodle soup for weeks as it was the only food I could get to stay down. Most GP patients are seriously under weight. You have to balance out what causes diarrhea or constipation. Your system can handle the diarrhea better than the constipation.
The biggest issue for me is Sodium, I have an enlarged heart with a leaky valve. Meniere’s too. Commonly refereed to glaucoma of the ear as the pressures are out of balance. Sodium plays a big role there. You are limited to 2,500-3,000 mg per day. Real sea salt that is light pink, light grey or grey is better for you than that bleached junk.
I don’t fall into the ‘normal’ eating category.
Eggs are a easy digest food. High fiber vegetables or fruit are the hardest to digest. GP is harder to deal with than Diabetes. Many people with GP put all their food through the blender and drink it. But you still have to digest it. That is the problem there.
Have they diagnosed the cause of your GP to be due to diabetic neuropathy?

Here’s a weird one for you.
In the morning, my digestive system goes nuts. Everything shoots through me from the time that I get up until around noon. Every single freaking day.
But then it all totally shuts down in the late afternoon/early evening. I have to eat a very light dinner or I’m up vomiting up the same food 8 hours later. Never left my stomach. If I eat spaghetti at 6PM, I’m throwing up spaghetti at 3AM. But if I eat a salad, that’s shooting out the other end (undigested) by 8AM. Can’t eat breakfast or that shoots through as well. It’s best to wait for lunch to eat after everything calms down.
On the one hand, way overactive. On the other, nothing moves.
It’s so frustrating that I want to scream. I’ve learned not to leave the house until after it stops.
(And no. It doesn’t matter what I eat.)
Is your digestive tract distended? And painful, up under the sides of your ribs or in your colon? Ignore the test the suggest and go straight for the Gastric Emptying test. Because what you describe is classic GP.
http://www.healthline.com/health/gastroparesis#Overview1
I’d ask for a Gastric Emptying Delay test, schedule it as first patient in the morning as it is a fasting test that takes 4 hrs, and you are not allowed even to rinse your mouth out. I left dehydrated. Test is not painful, just long. Course you have to eat the food they give you, it doesn’t taste bad, I just found it to much to eat and had a hard time getting it down in 10 mins. I had, had all the other Gastro test done, it was the last one. You don’t need a Gastro to order it your Primary can.
Stay away from Reglan or the other non US FDA approved drug, try GINGER ROOT capsules from the health food store, you can take as many a day as you need.
I’ve not solved the issue of diarrhea/constipation, but would rather be on the loose side as it is less painful.
Don’t hesitate to PM me if you need more answers. Do you take anything like Nexium, as small studies show it causes GP as well as destroying your bones.
Along with the Ginger ROOT, add 60 Billion multi strain Probiotics and a multi Super or Mega strain digestive enzyme, Colon Cleanse tablets work fairly well to help keep you moving, but I still end up taking 2 stool softeners (Stool softeners can be gotten at any drug store or Waknart )products are quality, and they have good sales where you can stock up on what you need.
You have to put back what your body has lost and just food won’t be strong enough, it is a slower process than drugs, but then again the drugs don’t work well and are restricted to 12 days. Anything more is a risky thing to do.
High fiber does not matter if raw or cooked, dense meats, high fat are a issue. Fluids don’t seem to be an issue might make you go more frequently. Skins on fruits or veggies don’t digest.
If you are having constipation use a couple of stool softeners at night. DO NOT get plugged up, that can be dangerous and end up with sections of bowel being cut out. Besides it is painful.
I’ve used regular sanitary pads if I need to leave the house before it stops. And carry them with me. Thought I was done with all that as I’m 67.
Eat smaller meals about the size you’d give a 3 year old. Eat it slow. Resort to Chicken Noodle soup if you have to with a couple of soda crackers.
Eggs will be your best friend, It pushes your cholesterol up, but when your digestive system is crazy you don’t care.
CERON 24 is a Script digest enzyme but I found it was not enough and added the natural ones that are more strains.
Nothing surprises me, I was health all my life until the past 10 years. Then it’s been down hill from there. And their drugs do more harm than good. My OP is drug induced. PT damaged my spine. And with a -4 OP score no one will fix anything, not even the bone spurs on the spine.
I fell hard from a Meniere’s event on concrete on my abdomen after a reconstruction of the abdomen, and damaged the Vagus Nerve. Gave myself a mild concussion on top of the rib cage and abdominal bruising. Wore a AB Brace for 6 months. Until the heat of the south. The IDIOT PT I had to see popped the L5/S1 it collapsed the discs and caused an Annular Tear, pain down both legs and in the colon that was 4 plus years ago. And lots of GI test, trips to the hospital where they called it Colitis that was Idiopathic, meaning they didn’t know why. At least 4 or more trips to ER with hospital stays every year. My BP would be in heart attack range. And with an enlarged heart I have to keep that under control. Hard to do when pain is the driving force of the erratic BP. And they can’t control the pain with out turning me into a ZOMBIE. Most Drugs don’t like me.
Idiot Neurosurgeon tried to tell me that the L4/5 does NOT control the digestive tract. He needs to go back to biology 101, it most certainly does control bladder, colon to boot. Can’t argue with the MRI’s. The compression fracture of the L4/5 has healed, but the herniation can’t be fixed, and does not heal itself like the fracture does.
I’m not a diabetic, Hypothyroid and of course the PN, I have no fat in the soles of my feet, so I walk bone on nerve, which caused the PN in my legs. I have all the test to prove it. I use a ENDO not a Primary for my thyroid, as the primary is not trained to read the test. Most people don’t even know what their thyroid controls, it is basically the furnace of the body and runs many functions of the body. Being off just a tiny bit can make you pretty sick. And the generic version of Synthroid sucks it can contain up to 30% less hormone than the name brand.
Breakfast is most often 2 eggs no bread, grains puts weight on you along with sugars even fruit. Especially bananas.
