Mystery bright spots could be first glimpse of another universe

THE curtain at the edge of the universe may be rippling, hinting that there's more backstage. Data from the European Space Agency's Planck telescope could be giving us our first glimpse of another universe, with different physics, bumping up against our own.

That's the tentative conclusion of an analysis by Ranga-Ram Chary, a researcher at Planck's US data centre in California. Armed with Planck's painstaking map of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) - light lingering from the hot, soupy state of the early universe – Chary revealed an eerie glow that could be due to matter from a neighbouring universe leaking into ours.

This sort of collision should be possible, according to modern cosmological theories that suggest the universe we see is just one bubble among many. Such a multiverse may be a consequence of cosmic inflation, the widely accepted idea that the early universe expanded exponentially in the slimmest fraction of a second after the big bang.

Once it starts, inflation never quite stops, so a multitude of universes becomes nearly inevitable. "I would say most versions of inflation in fact lead to eternal inflation, producing a number of pocket universes," says Alan Guth of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an architect of the theory.

I find the explanation in Exodus far more plausible then this one. Physics is built on facts, not faith. The author of this has a far more implausible faith than belief in God.

Actually, it gives hope to people of faith that science and religion can co-exist.

The following book is by the same person: Lothar Schafer

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

"In the context of encounters of Science and Religion, "In Search of Divine Reality" proposes that the traditional conflict between the two disciplines is mainly one involving classical, Newtonian Science; and many of its most pressing issues have obtained an entirely different meaning by the change in world view effected by the discovery of Quantum Mechanics.

In Classical Physics, there is no room for the Spiritual and for God. In the world of Quantum Mechanics, the foundations of physical reality have revealed all the aspects of a transcendent reality; with non-material entities at the basis of material things; with components of ordinary things that are not as real as the things that they make; with instantaneous, long-distance (non-local) connections pervading the universe; and with elementary entities that have mind-like properties.

Thus, in the same way in which dead atoms can form living organisms and stupid molecules can form intelligent brains, the metaphysical can engender the physical.

Without the employment of advanced mathematics, the book uses the phenomena of Quantum Reality to provide a clear and generally understandable description of the concepts of Quantum Mechanics and its consequences for our views of human nature."

“They basically invented and are pushing the multi-verse theory in order to explain why the entire universe is fine tuned for our existence.”

Agree, and I’ve made this argument many times before, and as a long time fan of Astronomy, Astrophysics and Quantum theories I’m as predisposed as anyone to believe in alternate universes, also makes great Dr Who stories,

14 billion years just isn’t that long of a time when talking micro and macro events so lets theorize we get an infinite amount of time to play with for whatever improbable events we hope to explain to random chance and problem solved,

If you can access another universe in any way it’s not another universe, it would be part of this universe.

My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? John 14:2

Paul Davies is an interesting writer/thinker along these lines:

Absolutely. I have two of his books: The Matter Myth, and About Time. Both Schafer and Davis are highly knowledgeable professionals in physics and cosmology, and both, unlike 99% of those in these fields, leave the door open for the possibility of God.

Paul Davis books:

Also, Jean-Emile Charon:

These works are all hard-going for me, as I have no academic background in physics; but if you do, I think you’ll find Charon fascinating.

By the way, Davies has been doing some interesting work on cancer, in terms of how we think about it and approach it:

our “universe” is shaped like a soccer ball
surrounded by like soccer balls (other universes)
and this explains the movement of dark matter being pulled by the gravitational forces in these other universes...

Re: Jean-Emile Charon

Thanks. Never heard of him. But I’ll check it out when I have more time.

In the meantime, here are some vids of Lothar Schafer talks and interviews...

I find the explanation in Exodus far more plausible then this one.

It's just a theory. I don't think those who came up with it are in anyway presenting it as fact. Usually something like this is presented then others shoot holes in it.

That said, strange that you should mention Exodus as it contains words from the Almighty which I think may allude to quantum and membrane theories.

Exodus 26:6 Then make fifty gold clasps and use them to fasten the curtains together so that the tabernacle is a unit.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if someday we also learn the number 50 plays some vital role in the very fabric of this universe.

There is another Biblical tie to the physical world I'm going to suggest, concerning Enoch, but to someone Else's post. I'll include you when I do. :-)

a time of ungrounded speculation that might or
might not lead somewhere.
