Art Bouvier is giving the next person who tries to rob his Indianapolis Cajun-style eatery something to think about - by dangling a 25 percent discount for pistol-packing patrons.
After a man claiming to have a gun robbed Papa Roux Saturday night, the New Orleans native announced that customers with a valid a concealed handgun permit will get a quarter off their tab. Bouvier told FoxNews.com he hopes it will send a strong signal that it's a bad idea to pull a gun with bad intentions in his restaurant.
"I just want the criminals to wonder whether customers have a gun," Bouvier said. "I dont want a shootout but I also don't want people coming in here thinking I have a given them leverage over my employees and customers."
"What if criminals recognize my restaurant as a place where legal and responsible gun owners come to dine?" he said. "They would think twice about what they're doing.
"I don't care if they bring in a gun or not," Bouvier said of his customers. "The 25 percent discount is simply for showing you have a carry license, meaning you have a clean criminal record."

This restaurant is in Indianapolis, Indiana and I plan on going there for lunch today.
“I just want the criminals to wonder whether customers have a gun...”
And that’s one of the benefits of the 2A. Criminals should fear private citizens more so than the police. Police will put you in jail, private citizens can put you in the ground.
Where did I get LA?
Anyhow, good for you. Let him know we all support him... if you manage to get in the door.
Its funny how every time a restaurant or business promotes pro-2nd amendment, they receive overwhelming support from the public.
On the other hand, when a business bans guns... eh, a few show up.
Yep. I once saw a cowboy type bar in AZ (think it was the Phoenix area) with a “No Guns” sign on the door. It was out of business. I chuckled. The owner was probably a dumb blue state transplant. Unfortunately I still see too many business with no guns signs when I visit AZ. Wish all of them would wise up or fold.
That CCHL DOES mean “model citizen”, for the most part.
You have to pass all sorts of background checks and then be approved by the Secstate.
I wonder if cafe press has a bumper sticker as follows:
(UNARMED VICTIM ZONE)
That people could stick on the window/etc below the “No Guns” symbol.
“Any local Louisiana freepers please patronize this man’s resturant...”
THAT my friend is a pretty long drive even to save 25%.
You are right. Tombstone is the worst. It seems like at least 50% of the businesses there has a “NO FIREARMS sign on the door. It seems like every local there has a six-gun (real & prop) strapped on, so I guess they don’t allow locals because they know what to expect from their townies or they really are Tourist Traps. I suspect the latter and don’t go in them.
Probably from the name of the eatery. I think he he came from Louisiana.
Offering a discount is not surprising to me. What is surprising is the amount. 25%? That’s huge. I’d be happy with 5% or even 10%. Wow. Wish I was in the area, I’d go sample some of the fare...
Armed, polite and very peaceful. But very prepared should the need arise. Every bullet comes with a government lawyer attached, and its discharge will be strictly accounted for at least for anyone with a concealed carry permit. Criminals, not so much. The firearms-related components of any crime they commit will probably get buried by the plea bargain they are offered.
