* Gowdy was responding to two GOP congressmen who claimed the panel had become partisan and an ex-employee who said the same thing
* Presidential candidate Carly Fiorina said she hoped Hillary Clinton would be held accountable for the murder of four Americans in Benghazi
* Gowdy is distancing himself from all these remarks - noting how none of these people actually serve on the committee
House Benghazi Chairman Trey Gowdy has a message for Republicans: shut. up. 'I have told my own Republican colleagues and friends, "Shut up talking about things that you don't know anything about,"' Gowdy said today on Face the Nation.
Gowdy was trying to prevent further foot-in-mouth moments after House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy implied that the House Select Committee on Benghazi was responsible for killing Hillary Clinton's poll numbers, an admission that allowed the Democratic frontrunner to label the panel as nothing more than a partisan hack job.
Following McCarthy, a former Republican investigator came forward and said he was fired because he refused to engage in a partisan witch hunt – claims that the committee denied.
Then, Rep. Richard Hanna said, 'I think that there was a big part of this investigation that was designed to go after people, and an individual, Hillary Clinton.'
Finally, presidential candidate Carly Fiorina chimed in, saying about Clinton's scheduled testimony in front of the committee this Thursday: 'I wish for once Mrs. Clinton would be prepared to stand and be held accountable for the murder of four Americans in Benghazi, Libya.'
Gowdy noted how none of the Republicans talking were actually on the committee.

Inquiring minds want to know. I suppose we will find out on Thursday what he has, or doesn’t have. McCarthy was/is an idiot. I’m glad he mouthed off when he did and saved us the misery.
I wouldn’t at this point say something is rotten in Denmark, but I smell a tainted investigation.
Your comment makes absolutely no sense to me.
Hitlery goes before his committee on Thursday to testify. We will begin to find out what happens after that. The McCarty point was about his blustering about the committee somehow being focused on damaging her candidacy instead of trying to find out the truth.
They brought Huma in to testify on a Friday.
The “dead news” period when people aren’t paying attention.
The GOP did this like their fake show vote on PP funding, also done on a Friday afternoon.
The truth is that the GOP is ashamed to put these hearings front and center on the news cycle.
Fox News and talk show hosts can blow it up, websites etc. as part of a propaganda campaign to make Republicans look good, but no one is going to jail or paying a price in the end.
Like GOP Majority Leader McCarthy said, its all for political show......

Ambassador Stevens would like to talk to the Democrats about Benghazi.
But he can’t.
He’s dead.
Our enemies killed him in Benghazi.
Enemies that may have been informed about him because of Hillary Clinton’s e-mails.
A United States Ambassador who represented each and every American.
