In 1964, Chance was 20-9 with a 1.65 ERA, winning the Cy Young Award at a time when there was only one winner, rather than one for each league. At the time, the 23-year-old Chance was the youngest pitcher ever to win the Cy Young, a distinction he held until Dwight Gooden won the award at age 20 in 1985 ...

Twins broke my heart when they traded him.
I grew up watching the Twins. Chance was one of the highlights. He was, however, tied for the worst hitting pitcher who ever lived.
I saw him pitch at Anaheim stadium in 1965.
Do you mean 1966? That was the year the Angels moved to Anaheim.
Well, he is back together with Bo now. RIP Dean.
He could throw (and how!), but I always felt his trademark was his absolute pin-point control.

Condolences to family and friends of Dean Chance.
Koufax doesnt get injured, he would have won it.....Koufax jammed his pitching arm while diving back to second base to beat a pick-off throw.
He managed to continuing pitching and to win two more games. However, the morning after his nineteenth win, a shutout in which he struck out 13, he could not straighten his arm.
He was diagnosed by Dodgers’ team physician Robert Kerlan with traumatic arthritis. Koufax still finished the year with an impressive 19-5 record.
Another SoCal player died. Dave Myers, basketball UCLA and pros, sister of Ann Myers, wife/widow of Don Drysdale.
Sonora HS La Habra, Calif. Drafter by Lakers, who traded him away to get another player named Kareem.
