'Tree of life' for 2.3 million species released
Science Daily ^ | September 18, 2015 | Duke University.

A first draft of the "tree of life" for the roughly 2.3 million named species of animals, plants, fungi and microbes -- from platypuses to puffballs -- has been released.

A collaborative effort among eleven institutions, the tree depicts the relationships among living things as they diverged from one another over time, tracing back to the beginning of life on Earth more than 3.5 billion years ago.

Tens of thousands of smaller trees have been published over the years for select branches of the tree of life -- some containing upwards of 100,000 species -- but this is the first time those results have been combined into a single tree that encompasses all of life. The end result is a digital resource that available free online for anyone to use or edit, much like a "Wikipedia" for evolutionary trees.

If it’s on line editable, it has nothing to do with DNA, and everything to do with wishful thinking.

However what you have done is the equivalent of pointing out the inconsistencies of the Koran in a Mosque. In the anonymous environment of the Internet my guess is a spontaneous combustion flame war is likely to result.

“Do you know it is not based on genomic structure?”

Because only a few thousand of the 9 billion known species have been sequenced. Look it up if you doubt me.

Not to mention that the DNA evidence and cellular function and structure are actually compelling evidence AGAINST the THEORY that life arose spontaneously from mud.

If you approach the issues of the so-called THEORY of Evolution with no preconceived notions, and seriously study the issue, read a few books like “Signature in the Cell: DNA and the Evidence for Intelligent Design”, “Darwin’s Doubt: The Explosive Origin of Animal Life and the Case for Intelligent Design”, and Franklin Harold’s books (http://www.franklinharold.com/books-franklin-m-harold.php), you might change your mind, especially if all your BELIEFS about the THEORY of Evolution are based on the one-sided lies taught in government schools and emphasized in the “Progressive”/kommie/Democrat media.

Another Friday data dump? If this thread is not political, we could make it that way. Ha!

Nahhhh, let's take it to the smokey back room by way of the religion forum!

(After all, God can't create a tree of life, having species related to each other, rather than each being a unique standalone kind, would violate the core assumptions of Creationism!)

This circular family tree of Earth's lifeforms is considered a first draft of the 3.5-billion-year history of how life evolved and diverged.

I haven’t located that yet but I’m sure it exists otherwise I’m being homophobic and there isn’t anything worse than that.
