Rupert Murdoch handed over 21st Century Fox, the conglomerate behind Fox News, to sons James and Lachlan July 1, 2015. James is now CEO and Lachlan executive co-chairman. Last year Murdoch elevated his sons to prominent positions, James to co-COO and Lachlan to non-executive co-chairman, but the turnover of the conglomerate came sooner than expected.
For 15 years, Roger Ailes has enjoyed near total autonomy as head of Fox News, but Ailes sovereign rule ended abruptly with the move. A 21st Century Fox spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter from now on, Roger will report to Lachlan and James.
For Ailes, it was a stinging smack-down and effectively a demotion.
To say that Ailes and Murdochs son James have a strained relationship would be a bit of an understatement. James, whose wife once worked for the Clinton Foundation, is a rabid environmentalist who led the campaign to make News Corp a carbon-neutral company. Conversely, Ailes is a fierce climate-change denier, who allegedly has called James a f@#$%!g dope and Fredo.
Ailes was not notified of the management change in advance. Apparently, Murdoch has been convinced that Fox News will continue do well without Ailes at the helm. Last year Ailes took a leave of absence due to an illness, and the networks ratings didnt slide.
Now that control of Fox News has been given to Murdochs sons Ailes fair and balanced reporting and conservative punditry will soon fall by the wayside.
I think the boys are back ... yoked together in a sort of competitive collaboration, said David Folkenflik, author of Murdochs World: The Last of the Old Media Empires.

Time for a new network
If they want to “lurch left” then they’re complete idiots. I’ve never seen an America more ripe for strong conservative principles since 1979.
The lurch to the left has been happening for some time now.
LOL
Fox News is not only a tool of the RNC, it's about to go full retard leftist.
They probably will still take weekends off though.
I had high hopes for the Sarah Palin Channel to counter Fox's lurch to the left. In reality, Fox has been liberal since Tony (RIP) Snow left. The primetime lineup is nothing but a bunch of northeastern elitists and the one Midwesterner is a Christ-denying cultist.
I heard Sean say the other day that he was the only conservative left at Fox. So, his statement now makes a lot of sense.
Considering I get most of my news on the internet ... who cares. Between the Internet and talk radio, I’m comfortable with the information I get ... screw FOX.
Hannity despises Free Republic. Let no one be fooled, he's just another northeastern elitist. Recall that he has called numerous lefists, "...great...great...great Americans". He opposes real Conservatives, FReepers, and so I oppose him.
Where is O’Reilly this week? Was he scheduled to be off?
They’ve been OUTCASTS in the New York and London High-Dollar Social Circuits for years because of the perceived “Conservative positions” of Fox News.
Obviously, they want to be seen as part of the “IN!” crowd they went to schools with, and be celebrated at Tina Brown’s parties.
Sux to be them, then. If you’re a news organization and can’t detect how the country is trending ... well, bye ...
Fox News is dead to me. And it’s ratings will die soon, too.
Thanks, Meygan, for giving us an early taste of Faux News as yet another piece of the LSM. BTW, you might want to check out how much MSNBC pays what is left of its staff. That’s your future.
You have noticed, haven’t you, that the great, great, great American meme has not been said for a very long time? Some don’t realize that these people have bosses who tell them what they can and can’t do. I have friends who love this country and are libs, but, I sure don’t agree with their POV.
Probably why he keeps talking about moving to Texas. He knows his days at FNC are numbered.
its*
So now we can haz Black Lives Matter 24/7?
