Every time Flash runs my browsers get on their knees and crawl. Garbage Flash.

I know you’re joking, but I have put electrical tape over every laptop and phone-camera lens in my possession.

I know youre joking, but I have put electrical tape over every laptop and phone-camera lens in my possession. I used to do tech for a large company- every once in a while someone would bring in a laptop for repair, and there'd be a piece of tape over the ambient light sensor.
I don't embarrass my users if I can help it, but I do ask why the sensor is covered up. :-)

Some sites crash Flash. Flash crashes all the time when I’m trying to watch something on Youtube.

“Some sites dont work properly without adobe flash especially on android devices.”
I had it installed because some things I need to see say it requires Flash.
Any alternatives the way you see it, or is it Flash or nothing?

I say good riddance, considering that HTML 5.0--finalized by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) in October 2014--can now do most things that used to require Flash. With Mozilla now officially no longer supporting Flash in Firefox and Microsoft not allowing the Flash plugin in the Edge web browser in Windows 10, I think the companies that do online ads may require all ads to be coded in HTML 5.0 only from now on.

Maybe because the ambient light adjustment is annoying and covering the sensor is a fast/easy way to “disable” it.

I finally had it with my browser locking up and going unresponsive [and whiting out like a cataract over the whole screen] and used my QuickJava toolbar button to kill the Flash. The Adobe site says Flash is not installed or is disabled. So far all OK. We shall see!

Nope- every user I’ve asked so far has admitted that they thought it was a camera.

I’ve got an older XP system that it locks up Google Chrome.

I don’t understand why any company would use flash on their web site. By doing so they are eliminating a significant % of their potential customers, me for one as I do most of my shopping on my iPhone.

“That means Firefox users will not be able to turn on the plug-in to access Flash content — they’ll have to seek out another browser if they need to use Flash.”
I’m getting a pop-up option bar near the top of the page for allowing AF or not.

You wrote “I can live without Flash.”
Well, I can really, really live without Internet Explorer.
I HATE that browser!

I play the daily games on Shockwave, which uses Flash. It was blocked on Firefox, but I was given the option to open it, so I can still play my games. They’re the only ones I bother with.

WHY are people still using Firefox: the same browser which ousted the conservative co-founders of the browser after he came out against faggot marriage?
Because on Windows devices, the alternatives are from Microsoft and Google, who have their own problems along those lines. In the case of Chrome, more harvested personal information is a side effect. The smaller players (Opera, etc.) use the engine from one of the big three.

I was having problems with Flash on Shockwave. Some of the games weren’t loading, and Adobe Flash would crash. My son put more RAM in my laptop for me, and I haven’t had a problem since.

I am not a tech expert so any advice from me should be taken with a very large dose of salt. That said, I would point out that XP is pretty old and a lot of newer stuff is likely to run slowly on it. You could take it to a tech or computer repair guy and see what they think. But one possible solution would be to just upgrade to something a little newer.
I am assuming you have, and periodically run an up-to-date anti-virus program.
