Republican Senator Ted Cruz skipped two Senate Armed Services committee hearings earlier this year in favor of speeches and TV appearances, a BuzzFeed News review has found.
On February 26, the Texas senator missed an Armed Services committee hearing about worldwide threats, which featured testimony from National Intelligence Director James Clapper. The discussion covered an array of national security issues, including the threat of the Islamic State and the Iranian nuclear talks.
Cruz mentioned many of the same issues when he spoke at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference that afternoon.

At least he wasn’t (shudder) golfing.
I was with the McCain entourage back in 1996 for two cities. The man is an absolute short fused powder keg of ego. He throws F-Bombs like he needs one with every breath.
I’m more amazed at how many times people glossed over or outright rewrote history over R11 and the fact that a republican to Reagan did not mean “abortion supporting, military hating crony liar”. That was the definition of a Reagan era liberal, not a “Republican”.
How many Senate and committee sessions did these miss when they were running for president or vice-president:
McCain
Kerry
Obama
HClinton
Biden
Lieberman
Also notice that most of these (maybe even including McCain) are Democrats.
Dole did resign his seat when he ran against Clinton in 1996.
Despicable human being! See its things like this that make me say...
“Thats it! Ted Cruz just lost my vote!”
Well that and I so want to be part of the Kool Kids Club on FR too so I sorta gotta follow trends instead of thinking for myself.
Maybe Ted didn’t want to hear more lies from perjurer James Clapper.
If Ted Cruz is sitting in the Oval Office and it’s reported he’s missing National Security briefings then I’ll be concerned.
A security briefing by James Clapper, Obama’s pet Communist traitor idiot?
For most crises in the US or at US facilities around the world during the past six years, Obama has been golfing, on vacation, or on the phone with enemies of the US, giving them tactically useful information.
Cruz will certainly regret missing these meetings. I hear the catering was out of this world - the shrimp were *already* peeled!! Piles of em’!!
Clapper is a prolific liar, lying to Congress and to the public.
Really does anyone really think that a Congressional hearing with a bunch of political hack windbags pontificating about the lot of vets will achieve any benefits.....I think not. It’s more important that Cruz be on the stump as his potential presidency will do more to help our vets.
Ho hum...
Another Alinsky-ite attempt to discredit a conservative for violating a “conservative” virtue.
Just more anti-American B.S.
So? What a stupid thing to take issue with. He can’t be two places at once and I am sure he will be where he is most needed.
It is a good sign when they go after stupid stuff. That means they can’t find anything of substance.
Missing out on the lies of Clapper is pretty much a wash.
who cares?
Hey everybody .. haven’t you ever heard of a “transcript” ..?? That would probably have been sent to his Senate computer - and printed out by his staff.
I really doubt Ted missed any of the hearing (technically).
Dang but they’re afraid of Cruz. Time to donate more to his campaign. I’d follow that man into battle - and that’s exactly what this is.
I do not understand that logic. Maybe y'all can help me understand.
2nd, Ted Cruz voted to pass the Fast Track, giving Hussein even more Congressional authority than he has already taken by E.O.
Donald Trump put out an article to explain why this is bad for America but way more importantly and specific, Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama spelled out in detail the horrible results that would occur.
Have you read Jeff's writing?
I have been on Ted's team from the get-go. I donated the day after he declared. I just don't understand this.
