Faiths left forearm and hand were amputated when she was 9 months old, according to Build It Workspace, where her new limb was printed in 24 hours. It took less than a month to design and plan for the hand, and the final pieces were printed Tuesday morning.
The family was put in touch with Build It Workspace President Mark Lengsfeld through the Lucky Fin Project, a nonprofit devoted to children with different abilities related to their limbs.
Lengsfeld authorized full use of the facility to make Faiths hand.
Its just an amazing opportunity to be here just to help her, Lengsfeld said.
Faith chose her favorite colors for the design of her hand: pink, purple, blue and orange.
She said she looked forward to coloring and riding her bike and showing it to her friends.

Spunky kid! Good for her.
Nice story - very local to me
Beautiful little girl. Great story. Amazing how cheaply it could be printed out. Love her colour choices!
I watched this story this morning over coffee, but didn’t catch that she lives in my area. Lakewood Village represent! This is the type of future stuff that we were promised! Very cool.
is the entire mechanical device printed ie. interfaces etc. or just the cosmetic pieces?
Most of it is printed, but it is clear that some things, like springs and screws, are not.
The printing is done primarly for fitting the device to the individual patient.
not to be a jerk - because I think this is awesome and we should be seeing more of it - but I wonder if the company is registered with the FDA to make medical devices (which this is) and if they filed a proper 510K since I believe it would be a class II device. I ask because I work in the industry and have been helping get companies out from under FDA issues for the past 10 years.
