From what I understand the Egyptian Museum is the worst major museum in the world in how they store, protect, and preserve some of the most valuable antiquities in the world. They would be better off outsourcing the operations to some Western Museum.

At least they didn’t use duct tape.

Sounds like a good Columbo episode....cuz you know someone is lying....
and the truth is....they got caught trying to steal....nevermind.
Don't want to give too much away.

They should've had
Kenny Bunk on the job.
The repair would not be noticeable and King Tut would now be useful for future generations as a hand-hold, stanchion, or replacement tiller.

Another museum conservator, who was present at the time of the repair, said that epoxy had dried on the face of the boy king's mask and that a colleague used a spatula to remove it, leaving scratches. The first conservator, who inspects the artifact regularly, confirmed the scratches and said it was clear that they had been made by a tool used to scrape off the epoxy. Amateur hour at the Egyptian Museum!

There’s nothing worthwhile that Bondo or bailing wire can’t fix.
