I’ve been trying to come up with a list of nationalities or ethnic groups—even subgroups—about whom it is still safe to make a joke publicly, since political correctness is shrinking the domain down to the vanishing point. Before long you won’t be able to make jokes about “little green men” from Mars, for fear of offending illegal aliens “undocumented” immigrants. I’m not even sure you can joke about white people any more, like Martin Mull and Allen Rucker did 20 years ago in A History of White People in America. Not even Sony would risk publishing this right now.
So here’s my list of groups or subgroups you can still safely make public jokes about:
1. Jewish mothers.
2. That’s it. (And Scott will have to tell me if Item #1 is in fact correct. But to this point I haven’t heard the ADL react the way FAIR reacts to anything satirical about Islam.)
Well yes, maybe you can make jokes and the French and Germans and the British, but fashionable opinion holds it against you.
The great John Cleese appeared on Bill Maher’s show last weekend, and offered an intelligent discussion of why you can’t joke about Mexicans or Muslims, and why it’s condescending. Plus this: “If you make jokes about people who are going to kill you, there is a sort of tendency to hold back a little.” (About four minutes long.)

none of these can be joked about.
I still joke about anyone and everyone that I feel like. unless I am at work.
There is no right to NOT be offended.
Often I will notice people in the car behind me at a traffic light taking a picture of my bumper sticker with their phone. My sticker reads:
When fascism comes to America it will come across an unsecured border carrying a koran.
Stock ticker is required to keep track of protected groups and forbidden words.
You can make fun of the Irish.
We don’t care and are fairly self deprecating.
The white Christian male husband and father.
According to TV shows and commericials, we are slightly dumber than Al Bundy.
Whites, Christians, White Christians living in “flyover” country.
White Christians, yep.
The only group that it’s “legal” to discriminate against.
Anybody I feel like. Its still mostly America! :-)
They aren't an ethnicity but on the other hand there aren't too many asian, black or otherwise third world blondes.

So true. There’s a saying (I’ll probably mangle it a bit) about how it used to be you could joke about most anything, so long as you didn’t curse while doing it (that was “Blue” shows). Now, you can use all the foul language you want, just so long as your subject matter doesn’t offend anyone.

A Fortune 500 company I worked for made us sign a 10 page “ethics” statement. Among the prohibitions were we could not tell a joke, ever. When I asked why the round-eyed HR lady said, “because you have NO idea who you might offend.”
Oh yes, definitely blondes. But that’s just jealousy. LOL!

You can tell polish jokes and I won’t mind. (but you have to explain them to me)
Well there’s:NRA, Conservatives, The Tea Party, Rush Limbaugh and any conservative talk show host, any American who’s not a liberal or Democrat .....
